Role Overview:

As our Yardsman / Trades Assistant, you will provide hands-on support to our workshop, drivers and operations team.

Working across our yard, workshop and wash bay facilities, you will assist with general maintenance, vehicle and equipment preparation, cleaning, moving materials and supporting our mechanics with day-to-day workshop activities.

This is a practical, hands-on role where no two days are necessarily the same. You'll need to be reliable, willing to get your hands dirty and able to work safely and efficiently as part of a busy team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assisting mechanics with servicing, repairs and general workshop tasks.
- Washing, cleaning and preparing trucks, trailers and equipment.
- Carrying out general maintenance and upkeep of the yard, workshop and facilities.
- Moving vehicles, equipment, parts and materials around the yard.
- Loading, unloading and storing parts, equipment and materials as required.
- Assisting with basic repairs, maintenance and general workshop duties.
- Maintaining a clean,



safe and organised workshop, yard and wash bay.
- Assisting with vehicle pre-start checks and general vehicle presentation.
- Maintaining workshop tools, equipment and supplies.
- Supporting mechanics, drivers and operations with day-to-day requirements.
- Assisting with waste management, housekeeping and general yard maintenance.
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Undertaking other general duties as required to support the team.

Ideal Candidate:

The successful candidate will be a reliable, practical and hardworking person who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in doing a job well.

We are looking for someone with:

- Previous experience in a workshop, transport, mechanical, yard or similar hands-on environment.
- Mechanical or trade experience will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
- Current HR licence - minimum requirement.
- Forklift licence desirable.
- Dangerous Goods licence, or willingness to obtain.
- Good practical skills and a willingness to learn.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A strong commitment to workplace health, safety and compliance.
- A negative, proactive and reliable attitude.

Experience in transport, fuel, petroleum, heavy vehicles or mechanical environments will be highly regarded, but is not essential for the right person.
