Waves of Ability
Sydney
Some days it's holding a board steady at 6am while someone stands up on a wave for the first time in their life.
We're not being cute about that second one, we believe in progression through commitment and opportunity.
What you'd really be doing
Our day program runs seven days, and every day works toward something rather than just filling an afternoon. Monday's Choice Day. Tuesday we Get Fit. Wednesday we cook. Thursday we're out on transport. Friday is Fun Day, Saturday is Swimmers, Sunday is Socials. Then there's 1:1 and 2:1 support, school holiday programs, camps, and all the ordinary brilliant stuff in between the appointment someone was dreading, the 10k step goal, the first bus trip on their own.
We hit the step goal. We go on the scary ride. We swim even when it's a bit cold.
Now the honest bit
We care about consistency more than almost anything else on this list.
That kind of trust takes months to build.
So if you're after something flexible to slot around three other commitments, we're honestly not it. If you want to be someone's key support and reason their goals are being reached, we are the right place.
What we're asking for
A Genuine commitment of (X shifts per week, minimum X months)
— we'd rather have you properly than have you occasionally
You turn up, on time, on the day you said
Necessary Certification
Confident in and around water, or keen to be
What you get back
Training that's actually training! it's one of our three quality focuses, alongside engagement and consistency
A roster you can see, with real notice, not a 9pm text
A real person at the other end of the phone, every time
Schads Awards
A fun team setting , a social support work setting
