Managed Solutions
City of Ipswich
We are Managed Solutions - a business technology provider with over 50 staff based in Ipswich and with an office in Taringa. We provide a range of managed services and internet, voice, data, security, and electrical.
Our network and internet team makes up 'Managed Solutions Internet' and provides networking services to our business, corporate, and commercial clients, where we do things covering connectivity, data centre hosting, network design and support to our MSP technical team and directly to our clients.
Our environment is primarily Mikrotik, Fortinet and Cisco, and, of course, the usual mix of other client equipment. In addition, we support the networking for the private clouds of our MSP clients running on Hyper-V, VMware, Azure and Amazon cloud services.
We are a friendly and focused team, working in a very adaptable and cooperative environment with great coffee, breakfast and lunch served daily!
All we need to add to the mix is for you to contribute your technical know-how, cooperative personality, and commitment to getting things done.
The role is primarily networking, mixed with the opportunity to work on a range of projects across the services that we offer.
Your new role:
Configuration and support of wireless, routers and switches across our and our clients' national networks including Cisco, Ubiquiti, HPE, Fortinet, and Mikrotik
Proficiency in some of the listed network equipment vendors is sufficient, with willingness to learn additional platforms
Escalation and liaison with suppliers and service providers to resolve critical outages
Ensure relevant documentation is created and published to enable the support and maintenance of all data networking systems under our care
Establishment and maintenance of support tools, instructions, and supporting documentation to maintain data communication services
Provide technical guidance and support to Level 1 and Level 2 engineers as needed
Provide valuable input affecting the outcome of business and infrastructure projects and the related data network services
Oversee tasks performed by junior staff relating to support issues or project work
Provide mentoring and escalation assistance to the IT Engineering team
Project management for internal and client projects – involving aspects of oversight, design, engineering, deployment, co-ordination and delivery.
You bring to the role:
Usual networking knowledge around routing and switching hardware: configuration, troubleshooting and support
Enthusiasm and an eagerness to embrace recent technologies and systems
Design, plan and supervise new builds including stakeholder negotiation
Experience with virtualisation, storage, high availability, network management and configuration desirable
This team also supports Linux server infrastructure - including our monitoring, configuration management, logging and web hosting platforms. If you have skills and an interest in this area - we believe strongly in cross-skilling and can tailor the role to suit your interests.
Our company's focus is on "connected, secure, and reliable" with the simplicity of design and replicability to ensure client networks stay online and can be maintained.
Your enthusiasm will be worth much to us, and your desire to learn and participate will be welcomed.
If you do not have formal qualifications, we can work with you to make that happen. In fact, we will pay you to do them!
