About Stark Food Systems

Stark Food Systems provides equipment and engineering services for food manufacturers, including machinery installation, system integration, upgrades, maintenance and spare-parts supply. We have operational facilities in NSW, VIC and SA and are hiring staff for all three locations.

Our work focuses on reliable machinery, practical maintenance and careful integration of equipment into client production facilities. We value safe work, consistent quality and effective communication.

The Chance

We are seeking Fitter Welders to fit, assemble and weld metal components for food-processing machinery and equipment. You will support installations, repairs and retrofits, combining accurate mechanical fitting with welding and fabrication skills.

The position involves workshop and client-site work across NSW, VIC and SA. You will coordinate with engineering, project and maintenance personnel to complete work to specification while limiting disruption to production.

What You Will Be Responsible For

i. Interpreting drawings, specifications and approved welding instructions to plan fitting, assembly and welding work on food-processing equipment.

ii. Selecting appropriate metal stock, components, welding consumables and tools, checking suitability for the specified assembly and operating environment.

iii. Measuring and marking out metal components, cutting and preparing material, and cleaning joint surfaces before fitting and welding.

iv. Fitting and aligning parts and subassemblies, using clamps, fixtures and tack welds to hold components within specified dimensions.

v. Welding metal parts and assemblies using the processes specified for each job,

including TIG or MIG where required and within demonstrated competence.

vi. Fabricating and repairing machinery frames, supports, brackets and other approved equipment components for installation and retrofit projects.

vii. Checking dimensions, joint preparation and alignment during fabrication, controlling distortion and making approved adjustments to maintain fit.

viii. Inspecting completed welds and assemblies for visible defects, dimensional accuracy and conformity with drawings, arranging further inspection where specified.

ix. Grinding, cleaning and finishing welded components to the required standard, considering cleanability and surface condition for food-manufacturing use.

x. Installing and fitting fabricated assemblies into machinery or production systems, checking mounting points, clearances and mechanical interfaces.

xi. Dismantling damaged assemblies, repairing or replacing worn components and verifying mechanical operation after approved fitting and welding repairs.

xii. Coordinating work with engineers and project personnel during installations and shutdowns, maintaining job records and following isolation, hot-work, fire prevention and hygiene procedures.

Skills and Professional Competencies

i. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, weld details and fabrication specifications.

ii. Practical capability in fitting, alignment,

joint preparation and welding.

iii. Ability to select suitable consumables and welding settings under approved procedures.

iv. Confidence using measuring instruments, cutting equipment, grinders and assembly fixtures.

v. Understanding of weld quality, distortion control and cleanable finishes on food equipment.

vi. Ability to plan safe work, maintain records and coordinate with installation and maintenance teams.

What We Look For

You take pride in accurate fitting and sound welds. You check preparation and alignment carefully, follow the specified welding procedure and raise defects or inconsistencies before they affect the finished assembly.

Experience with stainless steel fabrication, machinery repairs and food-processing equipment will be well regarded. You should be willing to work at our facilities and client sites across NSW, VIC and SA as required.

Qualifications and Experience

i. An AQF Certificate III in a relevant fitting and welding trade, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or an AQF Certificate IV in a relevant discipline. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.

ii. Two to three years of relevant fitting and welding experience is preferred.

iii. Relevant machinery installation, maintenance and repair experience will be well regarded.

Why Join Stark Food Systems

You will contribute to practical equipment projects for food manufacturers, from installation and upgrades to ongoing repairs and maintenance. The role offers the opportunity to apply your trade skills across workshop and on-site assignments.

Preference will be given to Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents.
