We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team on an initial 3-month contract to support, maintain and further develop an existing SaaS application.

This is a hands-on technical role requiring a minimum of 5 years’ relevant commercial software engineering experience, with a solid focus on backend systems, data integrity, application reliability and deployment.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team on an initial 3-month contract to support, maintain and further develop an existing SaaS application.

This is a hands-on technical role requiring a minimum of 5 years’ relevant commercial software engineering experience, with a strong focus on backend systems, data integrity, application reliability and deployment.

Key responsibilities

- Trace processing across APIs, services and workers, and manage asynchronous operations, failures and cleanup correctly

- Design, maintain and optimise PostgreSQL databases, including transactions, concurrency control, constraints, triggers, functions, indexing and safe schema migrations

- Design reliable background processing, including job ownership, ordering, retries, deduplication and recovery





- Manage application and database releases while maintaining backward compatibility and protecting existing project data

- Implement data versioning, provenance, cache reuse and invalidation strategies across application releases

- Manage AWS environments including ECS/Fargate, Docker, load balancers, CloudWatch, IAM and CI/CD

- Design and maintain end-to-end, integration and regression tests across database, background processing, concurrent and multi-user workflows

- Design and maintain secure multi-tenant access controls across the SaaS platform

About you

- Minimum 5+ years’ relevant commercial software engineering experience

- Strong Node.js / JavaScript backend engineering experience

- TypeScript experience is advantageous

- Deep PostgreSQL experience

- Strong experience with background processing and distributed systems

- Experience with backward-compatible application and database releases

- Understanding of data versioning, provenance and cache invalidation

- Practical AWS experience, including ECS/Fargate, Docker, CloudWatch, IAM and CI/CD

- Strong integration and regression testing experience

- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS security and access controls
