About Clever Gear

Clever Gear is a fast-growing consumer technology distributor and the exclusive Australian and New Zealand distribution partner for some of the world's most innovative technology brands, including Starlink, Govee, SwitchBot and more.

We bring these brands to market and drive their success across national retail, ecommerce, supply chain, operations and customer experience. Our portfolio of more than 15 brands spans satellite connectivity, smart lighting, EV charging, mounting, power and gaming.

Working at Clever Gear means operating behind some of the world's most exciting technology brands and playing a direct role in how they launch, scale and succeed across Australia and New Zealand.

About the role

We are creating an Assistant Product Manager role to take ownership of the product back-end across our portfolio. You will make sure every product we bring to market is set up, documented, compliant and ready to sell, and that our brand partners get fast, dependable answers from us.

The purpose of the role is focus. Our Product Manager's time is best spent on sell-in: presenting new products to buyers and getting them ranged. You will take everything else off their desk, including product setup and data, brand coordination, samples and credit approvals, launch readiness and range reporting, so that when a buyer says yes, the product is ready to ship and sell from day one.

You will also work hand in hand with our Account Managers, making sure they always have the latest brand assets, product information and updates to look after our retailers well.

This is a development role. You will build deep knowledge of our brands, products, channels and systems, with a clear pathway into a Product Manager position and brands of your own as you grow.

What you will do

Product setup and data

- Set up new SKUs end to end in our ERP and systems, including costs, pricing, barcodes, dimensions, carton and logistics data, accurately and on time.
- Build and maintain complete product content (specifications, images, copy and documentation) and keep it current across retailer portals and our own channels.
- Prepare and submit recent-product and ranging forms to retailers so approved lines can be ordered without delay.

Brand coordination

- Be the day-to-day contact for our brand partners on product information, samples, price lists, stock and launch timing, escalating commercial matters to the Product Manager.
- Manage brand credit approvals, including training and demo samples and write-offs, securing the brand's written sign-off before anything is booked.
- Gather brand intel and product roadmaps, keep a clear record of each brand's pipeline, and work with our Asia Pacific team on brands managed from Hong Kong and China.

Launch readiness

- Run a launch checklist for every new product, covering Australian and New Zealand compliance and certification (such as RCM and electrical safety), packaging and labelling, warranty terms, pricing and stock timing.
- Coordinate with operations on first orders, inbound stock and arrival dates so launches land on time.
- Brief our marketing and training teams with the assets, key selling points and product information they need ahead of launch.

Sell-in support

- Prepare materials for buyer meetings, including product one-pagers, range presentations, pricing and margin models, and competitor comparisons.
- Research products, competitors and pricing in market to help build the case for each new line.
- Complete follow-up actions from buyer meetings and keep the product pipeline current in our CRM.

Working with Account Management

- Keep our Account Managers supplied with the latest brand assets, product content, price changes, new-line details and stock updates.
- Share brand updates promptly, including launches, specification changes, end-of-life notices and promotional programs, so account teams can brief retailers ahead of time.
- Be the Account Managers' first point of contact for product questions, and support retailer requests that need product input, such as range reviews, promotional submissions, portal updates and returns.

Range health and continuous improvement

- Prepare regular reporting on range performance, sell-through, stock cover and ageing by brand.
- Flag slow-moving and end-of-life lines early and coordinate clearance or run-out plans with the Product Manager and the brand.
- Find better ways of working, such as templates, automation and cleaner product data,

and put at least one meaningful improvement in place each quarter.

What you will bring

- One to three years in product coordination, category or buying support, merchandising or brand management, ideally in consumer electronics or technology distribution.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail, especially with product data, pricing and documentation.
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage many brands, products and launch deadlines at once.
- Confidence with data and systems, including advanced Excel, an ERP and a CRM.
- Clear, professional written communication and comfort working with international brand partners across time zones.
- A collaborative, service-minded approach and the ability to keep several internal teams informed and supported at once.
- A genuine interest in technology products and how they are sold at retail.
- The right to work in Australia.

Nice to have

- Experience with retailer portals and new-product submissions for major retailers such as JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and Bunnings.
- Knowledge of Australian and Current Zealand product compliance, such as RCM and electrical safety requirements.
- Familiarity with our categories, such as connectivity, EV, smart home and mounting or installation.
- Mandarin or Cantonese, given how many of our brand partners are based in China.

What success looks like

- Within your first few months, you will own product setup and brand coordination across the portfolio, so our Product Manager is focused on sell-in and our Account Managers always have what they need.
- By six months, you will be running launches end to end and be recognised by our brand partners as a dependable point of contact.
- By the end of your first year, you will be consistently delivering against clear targets, such as new SKUs fully set up within 3 business days at 99%+ data accuracy and every new product clearing the launch checklist before its first order ships, and be ready to take on brands of your own.

Why join Clever Gear?

- Work behind globally recognised and category-leading consumer technology brands.
- See your work directly in market: every launch you prepare lands on shelves at Australia's biggest retailers.
- A clear development pathway into a Product Manager role.
- A performance bonus linked to clear, measurable KPIs.
- Hybrid working, including two days per week in our Chadstone office.

If you are organised, precise and love getting technology products ready for market, we would love to hear from you.

Clever Gear is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds.
