About the role A leadership role bringing together wastewater operations, agriculture, contractor management and process performance.

Every day, Adelaide's wastewater treatment produces biosolids that become a valuable resource on South Australian farms. As our Biosolids and Residuals Management Lead, you'll make that happen. You’ll lead the secure, compliant and cost-effective management of biosolids, from lagoon loading through to reuse.

Primarily based at Bolivar, this is a varied role combining operational leadership, planning and contractor management with engagement across farms in regional South Australia, laboratories, customers and internal teams.

- Lead the Biosolids and Residuals Management Officer in coordinating day-to-day biosolids activities
- Drive sludge and biosolids activities, including contractors, transport, deliveries, collections and site interfaces.
- Establish and drive the annual desludging schedule and biosolids collection plan, working closely with operations and site-engineers
- Lead the state-wide soil sampling program ensuring activities are delivered in line with EPA guidelines.
- Manage biosolids contractors, including operational performance, commercial matters, treatment, handling, transport and stockpile management.
- Work directly with farmers and biosolids customers to support compliant and sustainable biosolids reuse across South Australia.
- Oversee environmental and regulatory compliance associated with biosolids operations and reuse,



including monthly and annual EPA and customer reporting.
- Work with Maintenance and Reliability teams to optimise the availability and performance of biosolids equipment (windrow turners, mobile pumps, weighbridge….)
- Maintain safe systems of work for biosolids activities, ensuring contractors operate with the appropriate permits and controls in place.
- Manage the biosolids budget, monitor expenditure and forecasts, and oversee purchase requests and invoices.
- Identify and drive efficiencies and improvement through the biosolids and residuals management activity

About you You may come from wastewater or water operations, environmental management, agriculture, engineering, resource recovery, contractor or contract management, or another relevant operational environment. You're a practical leader who can bring structure to complex activities, work across operational and technical teams, and take ownership of performance and outcomes. You'll bring:

- A tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant experience in environmental science, agriculture, engineering or a related field.
- A proven record of delivering outcomes in an operations environment
- Experience managing contractors, suppliers and different stakeholders
- Strong planning, organisation and coordination skills, with confidence using business systems and managing data
- Ability to manage compliance requirements, operational risks and reporting.
- Clear communication with customers, contractors and technical teams
- Leadership capability, gained through people supervision or through leading contractors, projects or operational activities
- Willingness to travel across regional and metropolitan SA, with occasional interstate travel
- A current, unrestricted driver's license

Previous experience in biosolids management, people leadership, project management or environmental compliance would be a real advantage, but strong candidates with relevant transferable experience are encouraged to apply.
