Key Responsibilities

- Deliver high-quality, engaging NAATI Credentialed Community Language (CCL) test preparation classes through effective face-to-face teaching.

- Develop students’ ability to accurately convey spoken meaning between English and the relevant language other than English (LOTE).

- Teach effective listening, note-taking, memory retention and oral reformulation techniques.

- Build students’ vocabulary and familiarity with terminology used in community settings, including health, education, employment, housing and social services.

- Teach test strategies and techniques to help students manage dialogue segments and deliver accurate, complete responses.

- Conduct practice dialogues and mock tests and provide constructive, individualised feedback.

- Regularly assess students’ language proficiency and CCL test readiness, identifying omissions, additions, inaccuracies and language expression issues.

- Monitor and accurately maintain records of daily teaching delivery, student attendance, participation, progress and assessment results.

- Identify students who are not progressing as expected and implement appropriate learning support and improvement strategies.

- Ensure teaching, assessment and student records comply with applicable regulatory requirements and organisational policies.

- Use appropriate digital teaching technologies, learning management systems and CCL preparation resources.

- Cover classes and teacher absences when required.

- Respond promptly and professionally to student academic concerns, questions and learning needs.

- Contribute to a positive, supportive and results-focused learning environment.

- Work collaboratively with academic management and other teaching staff to maintain consistent teaching quality and student outcomes.

Essential Criteria





- A recognised undergraduate or postgraduate degree in interpreting, translation, languages, education or a related discipline.

- Excellent spoken and written proficiency in English and the relevant LOTE.

- Minimum three years’ relevant teaching or training experience, including demonstrated experience delivering CCL test preparation courses.

- Must have personally undertaken the official NAATI CCL test in the relevant language pair and have first-hand understanding of the testing process and requirements.

- Previous experience working in a similar CCL preparation teaching role is essential.

- Strong knowledge of the CCL test format, assessment criteria and preparation strategies.

- Demonstrated ability to identify and explain errors in meaning transfer, accuracy, completeness, register and language expression.

- Ability to assess students’ language proficiency and develop targeted strategies to improve their test readiness.

- Experience developing bilingual practice dialogues and using relevant community terminology.

- Experience using digital teaching technologies, online resources, learning management systems and student management systems.

- Excellent communication, classroom management, planning and organisational skills.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, motivate and build positive relationships with students.

- Versatile, reliable and able to respond effectively to changing student and organisational needs.

Desirable Criteria

- Current NAATI certification as an interpreter in the relevant language pair.

- Relevant professional interpreting experience in community settings.

- A recognised teaching, TESOL or training qualification.

Pay: $65,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
