Approach Consulting is seeking a Senior Citrix Infrastructure Engineer to join a major Federal Government department responsible for delivering and maintaining secure, highly available virtual desktop and application environments. This role will provide technical leadership across Citrix infrastructure, virtualisation technologies, cloud platforms and enterprise IT services while contributing to strategic technology initiatives.

Contractors must be on site in State Offices when required or as per business needs.

The Opportunity

This position is responsible for the ongoing administration, support and optimisation of the Department's Citrix environment, including virtual application delivery, remote access services and supporting infrastructure.

The successful candidate will provide technical expertise across platform configuration, security remediation, performance monitoring, troubleshooting and system enhancements, while supporting deployments and upgrades across multiple environments. You will collaborate with internal teams and service providers to ensure stable, secure and scalable service delivery and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Administering and supporting the Department’s Citrix remote access and virtual application delivery environment;
- Investigating technical issues and providing solution options to stakeholders and project teams;
- Supporting the configuration, maintenance and enhancement of Citrix platforms and associated infrastructure;
- Monitoring platform performance, service health and system availability and addressing identified issues;
- Implementing platform updates, security improvements and vulnerability remediation activities;
- Supporting change, release and deployment activities across development, test and production environments;
- Managing and maintaining Citrix policies, system configurations and supporting infrastructure components;




- Developing and maintaining technical documentation, operational procedures and knowledge articles, ensuring they are stored in the Department’s recordkeeping repository;
- Providing technical advice and guidance to project teams, business stakeholders and support staff;
- Contributing to platform upgrades, service improvements and infrastructure modernisation activities;
- Supporting incidents, problem and changing management activities to maintain reliable service delivery;
- Liaising with project teams, business stakeholders, service providers and other ICT teams to support operational and project outcomes.

You are a skilled Citrix professional with experience supporting enterprise virtual desktop and application delivery environments. You have strong knowledge of Windows-based end-user computing platforms, virtualisation technologies, profile and application management tools, and secure access solutions. You thrive in complex environments, combining technical expertise with a proactive approach to maintaining secure, reliable and high-performing services.

Technical Skills

- Core Systems - Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), StoreFront, Dire(Workspace, Provisioning server (PVS) and associated policies.
- MOE - MOE based on Windows 11 for virtual desktops and Microsoft Server OS for published apps and associated policies.
- Core Networks - Application Delivery Controller (ADC) and a Web Application Firewall (WAF) and integration with Multi-factor Authentication (MFA).
- FSLogix, App-V, Microsoft Defender, and Citrix Profile Management.
