About the Role

The Communications and Engagement Specialist sits within Corporate Communications and provides communications and engagement support across the Faculty of Science & Engineering.

This role is established to lead the planning and delivery of communications and stakeholder engagement for Curtin's WA School of Mines 125th anniversary milestone year and the launch of new Faculty infrastructure projects, as well as responding to other significant Faculty communications and engagement priorities as they arise during the term of the appointment.

The role operates across the full breadth of the communications mix, from day-to-day content and channel delivery through to big-picture narrative, positioning, stakeholder engagement and reputation management. Your responsibilities will include

- Maintain quality and brand consistency: Ensure all written content is of high quality; aligned with Curtin's vision, mission and values; accurate and consistent across all publishing channels; and complies with Curtin brand identity style guidelines.
- Evaluate and improve:

Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and seek to continuously improve communication and engagement with relevant audiences.
- Stakeholder engagement: Build and manage a stakeholder engagement plan covering industry, alumni, government, community and internal audiences relevant to the Faculty's priority initiatives, identifying opportunities and risks and coordinating engagement activity.
- Act as primary interface: Act as the primary interface between the Faculty and Corporate Communications for these priority initiatives, leveraging existing media and strategic communications expertise to undertake other activities consistent with the accountabilities above.

Who we are looking for/Selection Criteria:

- A relevant degree in communications, public relations, marketing or a related discipline and relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Proven ability to plan, implement and evaluate communications and engagement strategies.
