Company Overview An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance leader to take on a strategic Director-level position within a complex, well-established Queensland organisation.

This senior leadership role will oversee internal audit, enterprise risk and compliance, providing strategic advice to executive leadership and the Audit and Risk Committee. You will lead a small, newly established team and play a key role in strengthening governance, assurance and risk management practices across the organisation.

Responsibilities

- Lead the internal audit function, including the annual audit program, co-sourced arrangements and quality assurance.
- Provide independent, strategic advice to executive leadership and the Audit and Risk Committee.
- Oversee enterprise risk management, compliance and governance frameworks, driving continuous improvement.
- Lead and develop a small team, fostering a proactive and collaborative culture.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, influencing decisions and strengthening organisational accountability.
- Oversee audit findings, remediation activities and governance reporting.





What You'll Need to Succeed
- Extensive experience in internal audit, risk and governance, with a strong internal audit background.
- Experience within the government sector is highly regarded, although candidates from large commercial organisations and financial services will also be considered.
- Proven senior leadership experience, with the ability to independently influence executives and Audit and Risk Committees.
- A CIA, CA, CPA or equivalent recognised professional qualification is essential.
- Experience overseeing internal audit programs, assurance frameworks and co-sourced audit arrangements.
- Robust understanding of enterprise risk management, compliance and governance.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and people leadership skills.
- Background in government, large complex organisations or highly regulated industries will be highly regarded.
