About the role

Platform28 is seeking an experienced Duty Manager to join our hospitality team in Melbourne VIC 3000. This is a full-time position where you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring exceptional service delivery across our venue.

As Duty

Manager, you will be the key point of contact during your shifts, maintaining our high standards of customer service whilst managing staff, operations, and guest experiences. This role is crucial to the success of our business and offers the chance to make a direct impact on our guests' experiences and staff performance.

Key responsibilities

- Oversee all front-of-house and back-of-house operations during assigned shifts
- Manage staff scheduling, supervision, and performance to ensure excellent service delivery
- Handle guest concerns and complaints with professionalism, resolving issues promptly and effectively
- Monitor financial transactions, cash handling procedures, and reconciliation processes
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations at all times
- Maintain inventory levels and manage stock control systems
- Conduct regular inspections of the venue to uphold cleanliness and safety standards
- Train and coach team members on service standards and operational procedures
- Coordinate with kitchen and bar teams to optimise service flow and customer satisfaction
- Report on daily operations and escalate any issues to senior management
- Manage reservations, special events, and seating arrangements

What we're looking for

- Proven experience in a hospitality management or supervisory role, preferably in a fast-paced venue environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities




- Outstanding customer service mindset with the ability to handle complaints diplomatically
- Knowledge of health, safety, and licensing requirements in hospitality
- Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and hospitality management software
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Strong organisational and multitasking capabilities
- Numeracy skills and experience with financial management and cash handling
- Problem-solving abilities and sound judgement in high-pressure situations
- Relevant hospitality qualifications or certifications such as RSA or hospitality management training are advantageous
