Engage Construction is a locally owned residential and remedial builder working across Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, Inner West and Lower North Shore. Since 2018 we’ve delivered architectural renovations and remedial work, much of it in strata buildings. We’re a small business that cares about doing things properly, and we want the same standard in our books.

The role

This is not a data entry job. You’ll own the finance function from day to day, keep our numbers accurate and up to date, and tell us early when something needs attention. You’ll report to the Operations Manager and work closely with the Director and our external accountant.

What you’ll look after

- Accounts payable in Xero, including supplier bills and subcontractor payments
- Bank reconciliations and keeping the ledger clean and coded correctly
- Weekly payroll from timesheets, including super, leave and Single Touch Payroll
- Following up overdue client payments




- Month-end reporting and a explicit weekly picture of cash flow
- Improving how we do things, where you see a better way

About you

- Studying, or have completed, a degree in accounting or finance (or previous bookkeeping experience)
- Confident using Xero
- Comfortable taking ownership and working without someone checking every step
- Organised, accurate and happy to ask questions when something doesn’t add up
- Payroll experience is a plus but not essential; we’ll support the right person to learn
- Construction or trades experience is a bonus, not a requirement
