Protech is seeking motivated and reliable Field Officers to join the Fire Ant Eradication Program with Biosecurity Queensland, working from the Burleigh Heads & Canungra Depot's starting on the 27/10/2026. This is an excellent opportunity for people who enjoy working outdoors, exploring different environments, and being part of an important initiative protecting Queensland from invasive pests.

About the role

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

- Conducting visual surveillance for fire ants and other insect pests
- Applying bait treatments in targeted areas
- Recording field observations and collecting accurate data
- Completing daily reports and record-keeping activities




- Driving a company vehicle between assigned locations
- Engaging with members of the public and providing information when required

What we're looking for

Successful candidates will

- Hold a current open driver's licence
- Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Have experience in landscaping, agriculture, arboriculture, conservation, land management, civil works, or other physically active outdoor roles
- Be physically fit and capable of walking up to 10-15km per day across varied and challenging terrain
- Have solid communication and customer service skills
- Work well within a team environment
- Be committed to safety and following procedures

Pre-employment requirements

- Ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol Screening
- Ability to obtain and pass a National Police Check
