MATES GYM – Fitness Sales & Marketing Consultant

Pay Rate: AUD $20–$40 per hour, depending on experience, plus sales commission and superannuation

About Mates Gym

Mates Gym is looking for an energetic, confident, and people-oriented Fitness Sales & Marketing Consultant to support business growth, increase gym memberships, build local business relationships, and enhance our community presence through marketing, outreach, and social media.

The ideal candidate will combine sales ability, fitness knowledge, marketing skills, and a proactive approach to engaging potential and existing members.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Membership Growth

- Generate new leads through direct outreach, referrals, local networking, and promotional activities.
- Engage with prospective members, understand their fitness goals, explain membership options, and communicate the advantages of joining Mates Gym.
- Conduct gym tours, arrange consultations, follow up on enquiries, and convert prospects into memberships.
- Maintain regular follow-ups with potential members and work towards agreed sales targets.

2. Community Outreach & Flyer Distribution

- Conduct local outreach to promote Mates Gym and increase awareness within the surrounding community.
- Distribute flyers and promotional materials in relevant local areas, businesses, and community locations.
- Identify opportunities to connect with potential members through events, local promotions, and face-to-face engagement.
- Build community relationships to generate referrals and new membership enquiries.

3. Marketing & Social Media

- Support the planning and execution of marketing campaigns, membership promotions, and local advertising initiatives.
- Create engaging social media content, including photos, short videos, reels, promotional posts, and member-focused content.
- Showcase gym facilities, services, activities,



and member experiences across social media platforms.
- Contribute creative ideas to improve brand awareness, engagement, and lead generation.
- Obtain appropriate member consent before publishing identifiable photos or videos.

4. B2B & B2C Business Development

- Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organisations, schools, and potential corporate partners.
- Explore B2B opportunities, including corporate memberships, referral partnerships, and local business collaborations.
- Engage directly with individuals through a B2C approach, understand their needs, answer enquiries, and promote suitable membership options.
- Identify new opportunities to expand Mates Gym’s customer base and strengthen its local market presence.

5. Member Support on the Gym Floor

- Welcome and engage with members to create a friendly and supportive gym environment.
- Assist members with basic workout guidance and equipment use, within the scope of qualifications and training.
- Refer members to qualified coaches for technical exercise advice, individualised workout programming, or assistance beyond the role’s scope.
- Help maintain a positive member experience and encourage engagement with gym facilities and services.

6. Lead Management & Team Coordination

- Maintain accurate records of leads, enquiries, follow-ups, appointments, and sales in the CRM or designated tracking system.
- Coordinate with coaches, customer service, and management to ensure smooth communication and a positive customer experience.
- Provide regular updates on outreach activities, marketing initiatives, lead generation, and sales performance.




- Work towards agreed business development, marketing, and membership growth targets.

Minimum Requirements & Skills
- Certificate III in Fitness is mandatory to apply for this role.
- A minimum of 6 months of sales experience.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence in face-to-face sales, local outreach, flyer distribution, and lead generation.
- Basic understanding of B2B and B2C sales approaches.
- Ability to create engaging social media content and support marketing activities.
- Understanding of gym environments, fitness services, and member engagement.
- A proactive, organised, target-driven, and professional attitude.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with the team.

Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate of AUD $20–$40, depending on experience and suitability.
- Sales commission in addition to the hourly rate.
