Our Story

Have you ever had an argument with your partner? An argument so fierce that it went beyond raised voices and hurt feelings. The kind where something irreversible entered the room and you sensed that this might be the moment everything tipped.

Maybe you broke up, maybe you didn’t.

Either way, you showed up at work the next morning. You smiled. You drank your coffee. You did what the day asked of you. And that evening, you went home, buried your face in a pillow, and cried until your head hurt.

Hundreds of millions of us navigate our private crises in our own unique ways. Yet the moment we sit down at our desks, we are expected to leave them behind. It’s considered polite, and that is okay. But it is also assumed that our personal lives will not bleed into our work. As if pain can be neatly contained, switched off, and resumed later.

We believe that this expectation is not only unreasonable but unrealistic too.

Walk The Dragon is built on a simple truth: what happens at home shows up at work, and what happens at work follows you home. As they say, wherever you go, there you are.

We are an Australian startup in the process of rolling out the world’s first enterprise wellness platform. It’s designed for the whole human being, not the version that clocks in and out.

Founded by Om Swami, a serial entrepreneur, a monk with 15,000 hours of meditation under his belt, and an international author of 17 books, we are a small team of passionate dragons who understand cognitive well-being at a depth few organisations ever reach.

Our Mission

At Walk The Dragon, we are on a mission to help individuals see their inner beauty and operate at their optimum best, leading to extraordinary outcomes at work and in life.

With cutting-edge and proven cognitive tools, short mindfulness exercises, and deep philosophical life reflections, we help individuals get in top cognitive and emotional shape. A clear mind and a gentle heart lead to a better life, not just at work, but everywhere.

If to make this world a better place, in every sense of the word, is the sort of mission you care about, we may just be what you are looking for.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for an accomplished Full-Stack Software Engineer.

You are a go-getter who doesn’t mind taking risks and your problem is that you do everything with a sense of urgency, you want everything done yesterday (and you know how to make it happen).

We are looking for a hands-on engineer who is insanely passionate about human welfare, and who treats AI as a genuine partner in how software gets built.

At Walk The Dragon, we want a builder, an ambitious team-player, who when once called workaholic actually took pride in it. You will own features from the first idea to production, across the backend, the frontend and the cloud they run on. And above all, you cannot stand anything other than excellent: what you ship works, and it doesn’t break what was already working.

You are as comfortable deciding how something should be built as you are building it. Your conviction comes from your experience of building and shipping production software.

About Walk the Dragon

Walk the Dragon is a neuroscience-based enterprise cognitive performance platform that helps employees measure and strengthen skills such as attention, memory, reasoning and decision-making.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on Full-Stack Software Engineer who can work across every part of our product — backend, web frontends and AWS infrastructure — and who uses AI coding agents every day to do it. Our tools and practices change quickly, so the ability to learn and adapt fast matters more than any single technology on your CV.

Key Responsibilities

- Own features end to end across our employee platform, admin portal and backend API, from spec to production.
- Write clear specs, and use AI coding agents such as Claude Code to build and test features, reviewing their output carefully.
- Build backend services in TypeScript with NestJS, Drizzle ORM and PostgreSQL, keeping business logic clean and testable.
- Build responsive, accessible React interfaces that match the Figma designs.
- Test every feature and fix, release through AWS CodePipeline, and confirm each change works in production.
- Monitor and fix production issues, review pull requests and pay down technical debt.
- Protect sensitive employee data, following privacy and security best practice.
- Keep up with AI best practices and share what works with the team.

Essential Skills and Experience

- 5+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping production web software, across both backend and frontend.
- A proven ability to learn and adapt fast — picking up new tools, frameworks and AI practices quickly.
- A track record of owning your work and delivering features reliably, without regressions.
- Solid TypeScript skills, with solid experience in Node.js, React and building web API endpoints.
- Confidence with relational databases: designing schemas, writing safe migrations and finding slow queries.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or equivalents) on real projects.
- The judgement to spot when an AI agent is confidently wrong — an invented API, a test that passes for the wrong reason, or a change that quietly breaks another repository.
- Testing as a habit: unit, integration and end-to-end, and knowing when each is worth writing.
- Experience shipping through CI/CD pipelines and debugging them when they fail.
- Clear communication and comfort operating in a small, fast-moving team.

Desirable Experience

- Working knowledge of cloud services, ideally AWS, and experience building cloud-native solutions (containers, managed databases, queues).
- Experience building and managing AWS infrastructure as code with AWS CDK.
- Experience building multi-tenant B2B SaaS, including SSO and enterprise sign-in.
- Experience with privacy and security requirements, such as the Australian Privacy Principles, SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
- Familiarity with PostHog or similar product analytics tools, and with transactional or lifecycle email.
- Experience building with LLM APIs inside a product, or writing custom agent setups (skills, hooks, MCP servers).
- Familiarity with spec-driven development (for example GitHub Spec Kit or similar tools).
- Experience with employee-facing enterprise applications, HR technology, wellness or digital health products.

What Success Looks Like

- Features and their tests delivered on time, every sprint.
- Reliable releases with no regressions, backed by tests that catch problems before customers do.
- Faster delivery through effective, well-reviewed use of AI coding agents.
- Steady improvement in code quality, test coverage and documentation.

How to Apply

Please submit your CV and a link to your GitHub or portfolio, highlighting production software you have built and shipped, your role across the stack, and examples of how you use AI coding agents — including a time an agent got something wrong and how you caught it.

Walk the Dragon is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and abilities.
