Electrical Tradesperson | Rail Track Machinery Roster: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off Employment Type: Casual with potential to transition to permanent
About the role
Cat5 Rail is seeking experienced Electrical Tradespeople to join our mobile Rail Operations team, supporting the maintenance, reliability and performance of specialised rail track machinery across multiple Pilbara sites.
This is a hands-on position focused on electrical maintenance, fault finding, diagnostics, repairs and breakdown support across specialised rail resurfacing and track maintenance equipment.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience maintaining heavy mobile plant, mining equipment, rail machinery or similar industrial equipment, who are looking to further develop their skills within the rail industry.
Experience working with Tampers, Regulators, 09-3X Tampers, Unimat 4S or other Plasser track machines will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform electrical maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on specialised rail track machinery
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults to minimise equipment downtime
- Conduct scheduled preventative and reactive electrical maintenance
- Respond to machinery breakdowns and provide technical fault-finding support
- Inspect, test and troubleshoot electrical systems, components and control circuits
- Assist with servicing, inspections and general maintenance of rail resurfacing equipment
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and maintenance manuals
- Support machinery operations, pre-start inspections and performance testing
- Complete maintenance,



inspection and fault reporting documentation
- Travel between operational sites as part of our mobile rail maintenance team
- Maintain compliance with rail safety standards and procedures

Essential Requirements

- Recognised Electrical Trade Qualification
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance, diagnostics and fault finding
- Experience working on heavy mobile plant, mining equipment, rail machinery or similar industrial equipment
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, control circuits and troubleshooting procedures
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Experience performing preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Current unrestricted C Class Driver's Licence or higher
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and maintenance standards
- Ability to work independently and within a mobile maintenance team
- Ability to pass a Category 1 Rail Medical and Drug & Alcohol screening

Highly Regarded

- Previous experience working on rail track machines, Tampers, Regulators or specialised rail maintenance equipment
- Experience with Plasser machinery, including 09-3X Tampers and Unimat 4S Tampers




- Track Machine Operator qualifications – TLIC2054 and/or TLIC3045
- Certificate II or III in Rail Infrastructure
- Experience with PLC systems, electrical controls and hydraulic systems
- Previous experience in the Pilbara, mining or remote-site operations
- HR Driver's Licence
- Rail Track Certifier qualification
- 4WD Training / Operate Vehicles in the Field
- Provide First Aid & CPR
