About the role
This is council road maintenance work, running for at least 9 months. You'll operate a jet patcher, based out of the Dalby depot, travelling to job sites mostly between Toowoomba and Roma and anywhere in between. You may occasionally be sent to Moree, NSW. When you're not on the jet patcher, you'll operate a tipper or water cart.
You'll often travel to sites and carry out the work on your own, so you need to be confident on the machine and comfortable dealing with clients and council staff in a straightforward, professional way. Your work is always checked by an engineer, who will also check in with you regularly.
Key responsibilities
- Operate a jet patcher for pothole repairs and road maintenance
- Operate a tipper truck and water cart as required
- Travel to council job sites and carry out works independently
- Communicate with clients and council representatives on site
- Complete pre-start checks and basic plant maintenance
- Follow site safety and traffic management requirements
- Keep work areas tidy and report any plant or safety issues
About you
- Proven experience operating a jet patcher
- HR licence (essential)
- White Card (required)
- Experience operating a tipper and/or water cart
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude with clients
- Reliable and able to work independently
- Comfortable working away from home on a DIDO roster
Desirable
- Traffic control or traffic management ticket
- Previous council or roadworks experience
