Cyber Engineer North Sydney | Circa $170K + Super | Microsoft Security, Azure & Network Security
Full-time | Professional Services | Established Microsoft-focused MSP/ SI
Why leave your current role for this one? Because you want your security judgement to shape the design — and the ownership to see it through.
You may already be doing the difficult technical work. This opportunity gives you responsibility for the whole security outcome: understanding the customer’s environment, designing the solution, implementing the controls and standing behind the result.
Our client is an established Microsoft-focused managed services provider with a Professional Services practice, established customer relationships and delivery processes already in place. The attraction is hands-on security work across different client environments, with the opportunity to influence both individual projects and how the wider security practice delivers.
The opportunity Join the Professional Services team to lead security design and implementation from requirements workshops through build, testing, documentation and operational handover.
You’ll work directly with customers, explain technical trade-offs and turn security risks into practical improvements. Projects may include Microsoft Sentinel detection and logging uplifts, Entra ID and Conditional Access redesigns, and firewall and network security hardening.
The environment spans Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Defender, Sentinel and KQL, alongside endpoint security, Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls, security automation and resilience.
This is a hands-on engineering and consulting role, not advisory work alone.
Why this provider?
- Own the whole outcome. Take security solutions from discovery and design through implementation and handover,
rather than delivering one isolated part.
- Keep the technical work interesting. Work across identity, cloud, endpoint, detection and network security in varied client environments.
- Influence more than your own projects. Review designs, mentor engineers and help develop reusable architectures, playbooks and automation.
- Build your capability with practical support. Fully funded training and certifications, with dedicated study time.
- Receive recognition for your contribution. Performance-linked rewards, an annual wellbeing allowance and salary-sacrifice options, including novated leasing.
What you’ll bring
You’ll bring at least five years in security engineering or security consulting, including experience in an MSP, consulting or multi-client environment.
You’ll have proven design and implementation experience across Microsoft 365, Azure and network security, with strong hands-on capability in Microsoft security, identity, detection engineering and incident response.
Just as importantly, you can work directly with customers, explain your decisions, produce clear design and delivery documentation, and manage expectations when scope or risk changes. Ongoing professional certification is part of the role
Circa $170,000 + super, depending on experience.
Why make the move?
Changing organisations needs to offer more than a different logo and job title. Here, the proposition is broader security ownership, wide-ranging client work, funded development and the opportunity to raise the technical standard — without leaving hands-on engineering behind.
You don’t need to be actively looking. For an experienced security engineer or consultant considering what greater ownership could look like, let’s have a confidential conversation.
