Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for the inspection, repair, overhaul and assembly of hydraulic cylinders used across a wide range of mobile and fixed plant equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Disassembly and assembly of hydraulic cylinders.
- Inspection and assessment of cylinder components for wear and damage.
- Accurate measurement of rods, barrels, pistons, glands and associated components.
- Identifying defects and determining repair requirements.
- Replacement and installation of seals, bearings and wear bands.
- Hydraulic cylinder pressure testing and quality checks.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Working closely with the machining and surface engineering teams.
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and workshop housekeeping.
- Completing job documentation and inspection reports accurately.
About you
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner or equivalent.
- Previous experience in hydraulic cylinder repairs, assembly and overhauls.
- Experience working on mining and earthmoving hydraulic cylinders (highly regarded).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment.
- Valuable understanding of hydraulic systems and components.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Solid commitment to workplace safety and quality.
- Forklift and dogging licences (desirable).
