About the Company

Our client produces structural and reinforcing steel products for major infrastructure projects across Australia. Their Laverton operation includes a Bar Mill, Rod Mill, Billet Yard, Guide Shop, Warehouse and dedicated Maintenance Department, with a strong focus on safety, reliability and continuous improvement.

The Prospect

We're seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to help keep critical rolling mill equipment operating safely and efficiently.

In this hands-on role, you'll carry out preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance, diagnose mechanical faults and contribute to improvements that reduce downtime and strengthen plant reliability.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance on rolling mill machinery and associated plant equipment.




- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission and drive systems.
- Inspect and service conveyors, gearboxes, pumps and rotating equipment.
- Install, align and overhaul mechanical components and equipment.
- Support planned shutdowns and scheduled maintenance activities.
- Complete maintenance documentation and reporting accurately.
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability.
- Maintain high safety, housekeeping and quality standards.

About You

- Trade-qualified Mechanical / Maintenance Fitter.
- Previous experience in heavy manufacturing, steel, mining, industrial processing or a similar environment.
- Robust mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps and rotating equipment.
- A proactive approach to maintenance, problem-solving and safety.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Must be an Australian citizen.
- Must successfully pass a full pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening, physical assessment and mechanical aptitude test.
