IAG Defence & National Security (DNS) is part of IAG, a specialist advisory firm supporting complex infrastructure, Defence and national security programs across Australia. Our DNS team works closely with Commonwealth agencies and industry partners to deliver specialist expertise into nationally significant programs. Our success depends on our ability to identify, engage and mobilise highly specialised talent quickly and effectively.
IAG is recognised as a Veteran Friendly Employer under the Veteran Employment Program.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join a national security agency in Canberra. You'll implement, manage and retire the infrastructure that supports digital services, working with network architects to design, build, test and hand over network services to operations.
You'll take responsibility for significant aspects of the installation, upgrade, operation and control of local and wide area networks, and analyse complex network issues to recommend a way forward. Successful candidates will also need to complete an Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) before commencing, and the engaging vendor must hold current Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership.
Key Responsibilities
- Support network architects in developing, reviewing and refining network architectures and technical designs
- Validate network designs against business, operational,

- Plan, run and support network testing, including functional, integration, performance, resilience and security testing
- Support the transition of network services into operations, including documentation, support procedures and knowledge transfer
- Plan and design network infrastructure for your own area to meet service level arrangements
- Analyse complex network issues and recommend courses of action, and carry out network installations as required
Required
- Degree in computer science, IT or a related field
- 3 to 5 years' network engineering or network administration experience, supporting enterprise-scale network environments
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT and routing protocols
- Strong knowledge of switching technologies and VLANs
- Strong knowledge of WAN technologies, including MPLS, SD-WAN and VPN connectivity
- Strong knowledge of firewalls, VPNs and network security technologies
- Experience with wireless networking, and network monitoring and diagnostic tools
- Experience with cloud networking (Azure, AWS or Google Cloud), infrastructure automation and scripting,
and Agile delivery in multidisciplinary teams highly regarded
- Network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto or cloud networking highly regarded
Engagement Details
- Location: Canberra, ACT
- APS5 to APS6 equivalent
- Onsite. Work from home is not always available, depending on the assigned team
- Extension options available
