At NRI, we bring together deep technology expertise, capability and real-world industry experience to help organisations solve complex challenges and shape what’s next. From IT advisory and enterprise transformation to quality engineering, cyber, cloud and managed services, we work across the full technology lifecycle - turning ideas into outcomes that make a difference. With a global heritage and a strong presence across Australia, New Zealand and Asia, we combine the scale and capability to take on complex challenges with the agility, collaboration and the personal connection of a local team.

THE CHANCE

Our Managed Services team helps organisations maximise the value of their technology investments by ensuring critical systems remain secure, resilient, high-performing and ready for the future. Working across cloud, infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity, applications and service management, we deliver proactive, outcome-focused services that support the technology environments businesses depend on every day. Leveraging automation, AI-driven insights and deep technical expertise, we help clients improve reliability, optimise performance, reduce risk and drive continuous improvement.

Join our team means collaborating with talented specialists, working across diverse technologies and contributing to meaningful outcomes for some of Australia's leading organisations.

As an Observability Engineer, you'll help NRI customers see what's really happening across their applications and infrastructure, designing, deploying and running monitoring that teams actually use. You'll work with a named set of NRI-ANZ customers, become their go-to person for monitoring and observability, and work alongside intelligent, like-minded professionals. Datadog is the main platform for this role, but we care more about strong observability fundamentals than any one tool.

If you've done this work in Dynatrace, New Relic, LogicMonitor, Splunk, Elastic, Grafana/Prometheus or similar, we'll help you get up to speed on Datadog.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Deploy, configure and look after monitoring for customer environments: agents,

integrations, dashboards, monitors and alerts across cloud and on-prem
- Instrument applications for APM and tracing, working with customer development teams to get clear visibility of service health
- Build dashboards, SLOs and alerts that give operations teams actionable insight rather than noise
- Connect alerting to ServiceNow and collaboration/on-call tools (e.g. Teams, Slack, PagerDuty) so issues reach the right people
- Work with customer technical and business stakeholders to understand their environments and turn their needs into monitoring designs
- Help customers onboard and get value from the platform, and keep tuning and improving what's in place

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- 3+ years in a monitoring, observability, SRE, DevOps or infrastructure/operations role
- Hands-on experience with at least one monitoring or observability platform, e.g. Datadog, Dynatrace, Current Relic, AppDynamics, LogicMonitor, Splunk, Elastic or Grafana/Prometheus
- A solid grasp of observability fundamentals: metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and how to keep alert noise down
- Working knowledge of at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP) and of Linux and/or Windows environments
- Some scripting experience (Python, Bash or PowerShell)
- Clear communication skills and confidence working directly with customers

Nice to have (not essential)

- Hands-on Datadog experience (APM, RUM, Log Management, Synthetics), or keen to get Datadog certified; we'll support you
- Application instrumentation, including OpenTelemetry
- Monitoring containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Integrating monitoring with ServiceNow or another ITSM platform
- Terraform, CI/CD or monitoring-as-code

- A managed services or consulting background
