Organic Social Media Specialist — Roland & BOSS
Full time | Sydney or Melbourne | Australia & Asia
- Work with iconic music brands and the gear you love.
- Create content with artists, creators and product experts
- Grow local social communities across Australia and Asia.
Love music gear? Know how to turn a great musical moment into content people actually care about? This could be your gig.
We’re looking for a creative, hands-on Organic Social Media Specialist to bring local Roland and BOSS stories to life. From an artist performance to a product workshop or an incredible community event, you’ll spot the chance, capture it and share it with the right audience.
Who is Roland?
For more than 50 years, Roland has created musical instruments that inspire musicians and shape the sound of music. From the 808 and 909 to V-Drums, synths and digital pianos, our products have helped artists create records, performances and entire genres.
Then there’s BOSS. Those colourful pedals are part of the setup for everyone from bedroom guitarists to touring professionals. But we’re guessing you already knew that.
Why join us?
You’ll join a team that shares your enthusiasm for music and gets excited when a new piece of gear arrives. We value people who bring ideas, take initiative and pitch in when the team needs a hand.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with artists, product specialists, retail teams and regional colleagues across Australia and Asia.
- Take ownership of local social channels and see the impact of your work.
- Try new content ideas and help shape how we connect with musicians.
- Receive structured onboarding and ongoing support in Roland and BOSS products, brand guidelines and community management.
- Access content creation tools and equipment, global campaign assets and training as we develop AI-assisted workflows.
What’s the gig?
Reporting to the RAP Digital Marketing Manager, you’ll manage and grow local organic social activity across Australia and selected Asian markets.
This is a practical role combining channel management, content production, artist and retail collaboration, community engagement and reporting. The priority is useful content and genuine engagement,
rather than simply keeping channels busy.
Our approach is Audience Before Content: understand who you’re talking to, why a story matters to them and which format will communicate it best. You’ll show what musicians can do with our products, bringing their real-world applications to life.
Your responsibilities will include
- Owning local channels and content planning. Manage Roland and BOSS channels, including our local Australian Instagram presence. Build a reliable publishing calendar around launches, global campaigns, retail activity, events and artist opportunities, keeping assets, approvals and usage rights organised.
- Creating content worth watching. Plan, film and edit short-form content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. Capture performances, demonstrations, how-to tips, staff stories, customer moments and behind-the-scenes activity, with copy that suits each platform.
- Bringing local retail activity to life. Work with sales and marketing teams to capture Roland Store in Store activity, workshops, pop-ups, artist appearances and dealer collaborations. Create timely content that helps customers understand products and gives them a reason to visit.
- Building a pipeline of artist stories. Collaborate with Artist Relations teams in Australia, the Philippines, Indonesia, India and Vietnam. Help artists plan content, repurpose approved material and identify emerging artists and creators to connect with the relevant team.
- Making content relevant to each market. Work with distributors and regional colleagues to adapt global and local stories. Coordinate translation and local review, suggest alternatives when content doesn’t fit, and share useful templates and guidance.
- Looking after our communities. Monitor comments, messages and relevant conversations. Respond helpfully, connect people with retailers or internal specialists,
and recognise when technical, service or sensitive issues need escalation.
- Using insights to improve. Report monthly on reach, engagement, audience growth, community response and content performance. Share useful audience questions and market insights with colleagues, test new approaches and take ownership of agreed targets.
- Developing smarter workflows. Help introduce AI-assisted social listening and translation, supported by clear publishing guidelines, local reviewers and human judgement.
What do you need to succeed?
You’ve managed organic social channels for a brand, retailer, artist, media business or community, and can show us examples of your work.
You’ll also bring
- A genuine interest in music and music technology, with enough product and musician knowledge to connect naturally with different types of players.
- Confident short-form video skills, including planning, filming, basic lighting and audio, editing, captioning and publishing.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to write engaging copy in a consistent brand voice.
- A clear understanding of how audiences and content formats differ across social platforms.
- The ability to build relationships with artists, creators, store staff and regional partners, and help contributors feel comfortable on camera.
- The organisation to manage multiple channels, shoots, approvals and deadlines across territories.
- Confidence using analytics, sound judgement across cultures, and the initiative to work independently while keeping the team informed.
Experience with AI tools, social listening or translation workflows would be a bonus. Additional Asian language skills are welcome, but aren’t essential.
The role involves regular attendance at events, stores and artist shoots. Some events outside standard hours and occasional travel may be required.
Sound like your kind of gig?
Apply with your CV, a short cover letter telling us why this role strikes a chord, and links to social channels or content you’ve worked on. Tell us what you created, who it was for and what you learned.
We’d love to see what you can bring to Roland and BOSS.
