About the Position

Capital Tots Nannies is seeking an experienced part-time nanny to join a family in Denman Prospect, providing before and after school care for two children, aged 12 and 14.

This single-parent household is led by a father who works full-time outside the home and is seeking dependable support with his children's daily routines. Both children are developing their independence and enjoy having the freedom to pursue their own interests.

The eldest is a sociable teenager who enjoys computer games, spending time with friends and activities such as swimming. The youngest has an active interest in bike riding and enjoys spending time outdoors with friends. He also likes getting involved in preparing his own meals and snacks.

The family values a calm household where the children feel comfortable expressing themselves and are encouraged to develop their independence. Their approach to parenting places importance on respectful communication and gentle guidance, while maintaining familiar routines throughout the school week.

The successful candidate will be someone who genuinely enjoys working with older children and understands how to adapt their approach as children become more independent. They should be confident offering appropriate supervision and guidance while allowing the children space to manage their own interests and responsibilities.

This is an excellent chance for a nanny seeking a long-term position with consistent weekday hours. The split-shift arrangement leaves the middle of the day free and would suit someone looking to establish an ongoing working relationship with a family.

The Role The successful candidate will provide care Monday to Friday, working from 7:00am–9:00am and 3:00pm–5:30pm, with 23 guaranteed hours per week.

During the morning shift, the nanny will support the children's preparation for school and help ensure the household runs smoothly before they leave. Responsibilities will include assisting with morning routines, checking that school belongings are organised and providing a positive start to the day.

Both children are generally independent in travelling to school, although occasional transport may be required.

Afternoon care will involve providing supervision when the children return home and offering support with their established routines. As the children enjoy spending time with friends and pursuing their interests, the nanny will need to exercise sound judgement around appropriate independence while remaining available to provide assistance when needed.

The role includes preparing meals and snacks, encouraging the children to participate in age-appropriate household responsibilities and undertaking light child-related duties.

On occasions when the parent is delayed returning home, the nanny may also assist the children with preparing dinner.

The family has a Jack Russell, and some occasional assistance with the dog's everyday care will be required.

While the regular working hours are divided into morning and afternoon shifts, the family would appreciate flexibility for additional daytime care when needed. This may include days when one of the children is not attending school or additional support during school holidays.

Occasional later finishes may also be requested, with additional hours arranged according to the family's needs and the nanny's availability.

The primary focus of the position is providing consistent, age-appropriate care that supports the children's wellbeing and increasing independence while their father is at work.

- Flexibility to accommodate occasional additional hours during school terms and holidays.

Other Details

- Pets: The family has a four-year-old Jack Russell. The nanny should be comfortable around dogs and willing to assist with occasional pet-related responsibilities.
