About the Role

Our client is a NSW government organization based in Penrith NSW. They are currently seeking a Payroll Officer to come in and work with them on a temp contract opportunity until 25th September 2026 with possible extensions.

Candidates for this role will ideally have:

- Proven end to end payroll processing experience

- Previous local government experience

- Experience with UKG system is preferred

- Strong communication and customer service skills and experience

Key responsibilities include:
- Weekly Payroll Processing: Validating and entering timesheets, variations, and payroll data into the Empower system weekly.
- Leave Administration: Processing leave applications, verifying balances, and ensuring sick leave complies with relevant policies.
- Stakeholder Customer Service: Responding to payroll and general inquiries from staff, the community, and third parties (e.g., banks).
- Documentation & Correspondence: Preparing official HR and payroll documents, including letters of employment and separation certificates.
- Records Management:



Checking, filing, storing, and archiving payroll and personnel records securely.
- Governance & Compliance: Conducting all tasks in accordance with relevant legislation, statutory requirements, and relevant policies.
- Effective Work Practices: Managing personal workload, communicating positively, and contributing to a productive team workplace.
