About the Role

Our client is a NSW government organization based in Penrith NSW. They are currently seeking a Payroll Officer to come in and work with them on a temp contract opportunity until 25th September 2026 with possible extensions.

Candidates for this role will ideally have:

Proven end to end payroll processing experience

Previous local government experience

Experience with UKG system is preferred

Solid communication and customer service skills and experience

Key responsibilities include

Weekly Payroll Processing: Validating and entering timesheets, variations, and payroll data into the Empower system weekly.

Leave Administration: Processing leave applications, verifying balances, and ensuring sick leave complies with relevant policies.

Stakeholder Customer Service: Responding to payroll and general inquiries from staff, the community, and third parties (e.g., banks).

Documentation & Correspondence: Preparing official HR and payroll documents, including letters of employment and separation certificates.

Records Management: Checking, filing, storing,



and archiving payroll and personnel records securely.

Governance & Compliance: Conducting all tasks in accordance with relevant legislation, statutory requirements, and relevant policies.

Effective Work Practices: Managing personal workload, communicating positively, and contributing to a productive team environment.
