Who you are
You are an experienced payroll specialist with at least three years of payroll experience. You know payroll processing inside out, you are confident with legislation and compliance, and you take real pride in getting it accurate and on time, every time.
You have worked in payroll or workforce systems, and ideally across more than one. We regularly work in platforms such as Dayforce, Workday, UKG, ADP and Employment Hero, so experience with any of these, or similar, is a real plus. What matters most is solid payroll capability, sound judgement and a genuine focus on the Customer.
You are organised and detail-oriented, you manage competing priorities without dropping the ball, and you bring a positive, can-do attitude whether you are working on your own or as part of the team.
Full time or part time
This role is open to both full-time and part-time applicants. If part-time suits you better, we are especially keen to hear from experienced payrollers available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the busiest days in the payroll week. We are happy to make part-time work for the right person.
What you will do
- Run end-to-end payroll for clients across weekly, fortnightly and monthly cycles, from data collection and calculation through to distribution and reporting
- Ensure timely compliance with payroll-related tax filings and regulations, and manage deductions, benefits and garnishments
- Keep your knowledge of payroll legislation and best practice current, so compliance and efficiency are never at risk
- Interpret and apply awards, EBAs and legislative requirements with accuracy and confidence
- Perform detailed reconciliations,
compliance reviews and exception analysis to protect payroll integrity
- Manage and update payroll records across a range of payroll systems
- Produce clear documentation, reporting and control frameworks aligned to best practice
- Advise stakeholders on payroll risk, compliance and process improvements
- Contribute to continuous improvement across payroll operations and system capability
- Travel to client sites or the company office on the rare occasion it is needed
What you will need:
Non-negotiable
- At least 3 years in payroll operations
- Solid understanding of payroll processes, compliance obligations and best practice
- Experience managing and updating payroll records in payroll systems
- Experience with Payroll, Time and Attendance, WFM, HCM or HRIS platforms
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
- Strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise and manage your workload
- Clear written and verbal communication, and confidence engaging with clients and stakeholders
- A positive, collaborative and resilient approach
- The ability to work independently and show initiative
- Full working rights in Australia
Highly regarded
- Payroll certification or a formal payroll qualification
- Hands-on experience with one or more of Dayforce, Workday, UKG, ADP or Employment Hero, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira or Confluence
- Experience contributing to process or continuous improvement initiatives
What success looks like
- You will be successful in this role if you consistently:
- Deliver accurate and compliant payroll outcomes in complex environments
- Build robust, trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Proactively identify risks and implement practical solutions
- Contribute positively to team capability and continuous improvement
- Demonstrate accountability, sound judgement and ownership of outcomes
