About the opportunity

Are you a Senior Data Engineer who enjoys working across different clients, solving complex data challenges and delivering solutions that make a real business impact?

We're partnering with a growing technology consultancy to find a Senior Data Engineer to join its expanding data practice. Working across a variety of client engagements, you'll help organisations design, build and modernise their data platforms, from data migrations and platform implementations through to developing scalable data solutions that unlock business value.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the variety and pace of consulting. You'll work closely with clients to understand their challenges, challenge assumptions, shape technical solutions and take ownership of delivery from start to finish. It's an opportunity to combine hands-on engineering with problem-solving, stakeholder engagement and exposure to different business environments.

What you'll be doing

- Design, build and optimise scalable data pipelines and data platforms across a range of client engagements.

- Develop ETL/ELT processes and data integrations using Python, SQL and modern data technologies.

- Work with clients to understand business requirements, identify challenges and translate them into effective technical solutions.

- Contribute to data modelling, data warehousing, platform architecture and technology decisions.

- Take ownership of delivery, from understanding the problem and designing the solution through to implementation.

- Troubleshoot complex data and performance issues while ensuring data quality, reliability and security.

- Collaborate with client teams and internal technical specialists to deliver successful project outcomes.





- Contribute to technical design reviews, improve engineering practices and mentor junior team members.

What we're looking for

- 5+ years' experience in data engineering, with a strong understanding of core data principles.

- Strong Python and SQL skills, with hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines.

- Solid knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing, data integration and data platform design.

- Experience with modern data platforms such as Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake or similar technologies.

- Experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.

- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break complex problems into logical steps.

- Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- A genuine interest in working in a consultancy environment, delivering solutions across different clients and business challenges.

- The ability to work autonomously, take ownership of outcomes and explain the reasoning behind your technical decisions.
