Sanjh Indian Restaurant is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team on a full time basis.

We are looking for a passionate and skilled individual with strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, traditional cooking techniques and the ability to consistently prepare high-quality dishes in a busy restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, prepare and cook a variety of authentic Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori dishes, biryanis, vegetarian and non-vegetarian specialties.
- Prepare marinades, sauces, spice blends and gravies using traditional Indian cooking techniques.
- Develop and improve menu items while maintaining the restaurant's food quality and presentation standards.
- Monitor food preparation, cooking temperatures, portion sizes and presentation to ensure consistency.
- Manage kitchen operations and coordinate food preparation during busy service periods.
- Estimate food requirements, monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients and supplies.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards in accordance with Australian regulations.




- Minimise food wastage and assist with effective kitchen cost control.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking methods and safe food-handling practices.
- Work closely with management to maintain efficient kitchen operations and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications and Experience

- AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Kitchen Management, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Relevant experience as a Chef, preferably specialising in Indian cuisine.
- Strong knowledge of Indian spices, curries, tandoor cooking and traditional food preparation techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational, communication and time-management skills.
- Sound understanding of Australian food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality in a fast-paced kitchen.
