Get Off the Tools Without Leaving the Trade
Project Sales Consultant / Painting Estimator
$85k base + super + car allowance + performance incentives This is a full-time salaried role with a guaranteed package approaching $100k in total value before incentives.
Then there’s upside for performance.
If you can manage a pipeline, qualify well, present professionally, follow up properly and convert profitable work, you’ll earn more.
You’ve already spent years learning how jobs actually work.
You understand customers, trades, scope, site conditions, preparation, access, quoting, and what happens when work is sold badly.
Now you can turn that practical experience into a professional sales career without leaving the industry behind.
Surepaint is looking for someone with a trade, construction, estimating or site-based background who wants more autonomy, more responsibility and a genuine long-term pathway.
You do not need to be a polished corporate salesperson.
You do need to be practical, commercially minded, confident with people, comfortable with technology, and prepared to take ownership of your results.
What the role looks like
As a Project Sales Consultant, you will manage painting opportunities from first contact through to accepted proposal and handover. You’ll speak with customers, qualify projects, visit sites, measure work, prepare proposals, present recommendations, follow up opportunities and ask for the business.
This is not just measuring walls and emailing quotes.
The best people in this role learn how to understand what the customer is trying to achieve, determine whether the opportunity is a good fit, recommend the right solution and guide the customer toward a decision.
What you’ll do
- Call and qualify recent enquiries
- Manage your own appointments
- Attend site visits and assess projects
- Measure and prepare painting proposals
- Present quotes professionally
- Ask customers for the business
- Follow up open opportunities
- Work previous customers, old leads, referrals and commercial prospects
- Keep accurate CRM notes and next actions
- Help create a clean handover from sales into production
Who we’re looking for
This role may suit someone who is currently or previously:
- A painter wanting to move off the tools
- A tradie looking for a stronger long-term career path
- A supervisor or leading hand
- A painting estimator
- A former contractor or trade business owner
- Someone from roofing, flooring, plastering, rendering, waterproofing, restoration, maintenance, windows and doors or another property-related trade
A QBCC licence is highly regarded, but not essential. Previous experience running your own contracting or trade business is also a robust advantage.
People who have worked for themselves often understand things like:
- customer expectations;
- quoting risk;
- time management;
- margins;
- follow-up;
- accountability;
- the difference between being busy and actually moving a job forward.
It is not a requirement, but if you have owned or run a trade business before, we definitely want to hear about it.
This is an ownership role
Surepaint is a remote-first business with strong systems, daily team meetings, custom software and structured training. You will have flexibility in how you organise your working day.
With that flexibility comes responsibility.
We care less about watching the clock and more about whether the right things are getting done.
Your leads need to be worked.
Your proposals need to move.
Your customers need to be followed up.
Your CRM needs to stay current.
And live opportunities need a clear next action.
Some days will be shorter. Some days will require more depending on appointments, customer availability and workload.
The important thing is that you stay in control of your pipeline and know what the plan is.
You’ll probably do well here if you
- Like dealing with people
- Are comfortable taking responsibility
- Can organise your own day
- Learn quickly from feedback
- Are willing to ask direct questions about budget, timing and decisions
- Can follow a process without becoming robotic
- Are confident using technology
- Take pride in doing what you said you would do
- Want your performance to directly influence your income and career progression
You do not need to know everything on day one
We have a structured sales and estimating process. You will receive training in:
- qualification;
- estimating;
- quoting;
- presenting;
- follow-up;
- CRM;
- customer communication;
- project handover.
You will start with appropriate projects and progressively move into larger and more complex opportunities as your confidence and judgement develop. We provide the systems, training and support.
You bring the work ethic, judgement and willingness to apply it.

The opportunity
$85,000 base salary + superannuation
+ vehicle allowance
+ performance incentives
This is a genuine full-time salaried role with a strong guaranteed package and clear upside for people who perform.
For the right person, this is more than a way to get off the tools.
It is a chance to turn years of practical trade experience into a serious professional career in sales, estimating and client management.
You will be given the systems, training, support and opportunities.
What you do with them is up to you.
If you want autonomy, responsibility, a explicit pathway forward and the chance to be rewarded for strong performance, this role gives you that chance.
Trade knowledge gets you started.
Ownership, judgement and performance determine how far you go.
To apply
Send your resume and a short note explaining:
- your trade, construction, estimating or site experience;
- whether you have ever worked for yourself or run a contracting business;
- whether you hold a QBCC licence;
- why you want to move into a project sales role;
- why you think this opportunity suits you.
Applications without a short note may not be prioritised.
