Australia

For many of the people we see, psychology is where the dismissal was made official. Fainting reframed as "anxiety". Pain with "no physical cause". A monthly crash read as a mood disorder, autistic burnout read as depression, a nervous system stuck in overdrive put down to "stress". Most of our patients are women, and many have been told it was all in their head. Psychology is frequently where that goes wrong — and, when it's done with the whole picture in view, where it finally goes right.

About biio.

biio. was built for patients with complex invisible illness — hypermobility, dysautonomia, MCAS, chronic pain, neurodivergence and fatigue, and the presentations that travel with them. In two years we've cared for more than 4,500 people across more than 20,000 consults and grown to a team of more than 80. We're digital-first and care for patients across Australia, with clinics in Melbourne and Perth — and our first Sydney site opening early 2027, with Adelaide and the Gold Coast to follow.

We're an internationally recognised member of the Ehlers-Danlos Society's CORE Network of Excellence, and a finalist in the Australian POTS Foundation Excellence in Care Awards and the 2026 Patients' Choice Awards.

The role

We're looking for clinical or registered psychologists to join us — onsite or by telehealth — with these presentations as the caseload rather than the occasional complex case. The work centres on neurodivergence, trauma, adjustment to diagnosis and illness, identity, chronic pain and illness, PMDD and hormonal change, and nervous system regulation alongside dysautonomia — often several at once, with room to weight your practice toward the work you're most drawn to.

This is a therapy role. It doesn't include neurodevelopmental assessment, though some may be added later. Neuro-affirming, trauma-informed practice matters most; experience with somatic, ACT, compassion-focused or EMDR approaches is of particular interest but not essential. You'll need general registration with AHPRA as a psychologist; clinical endorsement is genuinely valued but not required.

How you'll work

You won't carry these patients alone, wherever you're working from. You'll work within a multidisciplinary team — psychiatry, nurse practitioners, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, dietetics, exercise physiology and our medical consultants — that treats your formulation as part of one shared clinical picture, not a report filed in isolation. When a client's anxiety spikes every time they stand, or their mood drops sharply before each period, the people who can investigate the physiology are already in the conversation — whether you're onsite or remote.

Before each session, the relevant picture is already assembled in biio.graphy: correspondence, prior assessments, validated tools and history, so you arrive ready to work rather than rebuilding the file. biio.graphy organises the information; you decide your assessment and clinical plan.

Career development

This is also a place to develop, and we've made that concrete. You'll have individual supervision and peer supervision built into how you work, regular psychology case consultation, and a monthly cross-disciplinary PD where the wider team learns from each other's expertise. All of it runs online as well as in person, so it reaches you the same whether you're onsite or remote. Practitioners who show they can carry more are progressed faster.

Culture

Integrated care breaks down the moment someone stops listening, so we hire for the opposite. The people who do well here are low-ego and high-EQ: they ask before they assume and they treat another discipline's read on a patient as something to learn from rather than defend against. Humility, openness and inclusivity aren't slogans here — they're the conditions that let a multidisciplinary team reason as one.

Who it's for

This will suit you if you're curious about where the body and the nervous system meet, you'd rather reason through a hard case with colleagues than on your own, and you want your own development taken seriously. It's less suited to someone after a high-volume, manualised six-session list, or whose first instinct with an unexplained symptom is to call it psychological.

Hours and location

Onsite in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, or fully remote by telehealth from anywhere in Australia — flexible days, with the option to expand as your caseload builds. We'd prefer to employ, and contract arrangements are also considered.

If complex invisible illness is the work you want to grow into, we'd like to meet you.
