About the role

Outback Coast Group Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic for a drive-in, drive-out role from Perth to the Kalgoorlie area.

You will carry out routine inspections, scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on heavy equipment. This role will suit a skilled and reliable tradesperson who can diagnose faults efficiently, work safely and take pride in keeping equipment operating at its best.

The position pays $75 per hour and offers your choice of an 8 days on, 6 days off roster or a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster.

A company vehicle will be provided for travel between Perth and site, with approved travel costs covered. Travel will be completed on company time and paid accordingly.

Key responsibilities

- Conduct routine inspections and identify defects or maintenance requirements

- Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance

- Attend equipment breakdowns and complete repairs efficiently

- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults

- Carry out corrective maintenance to minimise equipment downtime

- Assemble, install, maintain and repair heavy-duty equipment and machinery

- Use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments

- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, specifications and work orders

- Maintain accurate inspection, servicing and repair records

- Work with supervisors, operators and other maintenance personnel to meet operational priorities

- Keep tools, equipment and work areas clean and safe

- Follow all site health, safety and environmental requirements

What you will need

- A recognised trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Heavy Diesel Fitter

- Demonstrated experience completing routine inspections and breakdown services

- Current forklift licence - essential

- Current driver's licence





- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills

- Sound knowledge of diesel, hydraulic and pneumatic systems

- Experience maintaining heavy vehicles, mobile plant or mining equipment

- Ability to work safely and effectively with limited supervision

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

- Valuable communication, teamwork and record-keeping skills

- Ability to work remotely and complete either an 8:6 or 2:2 roster

Experience working on Hitachi and Caterpillar heavy mining equipment, including Hitachi EX3600 excavators, Caterpillar D10/D11 dozers and Cat 777/789 haul trucks, will be highly regarded.
