We are seeking a Technical Assistant – Molecular Genetics to join our growing Molecular Genetics team in Revesby. About the Role

As a Technical Assistant, you'll play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality genetic pathology services.

Working within the Molecular Genetics laboratory, you'll assist with specimen processing, DNA extraction, laboratory maintenance, quality activities and the day-to-day operational requirements that support efficient laboratory workflows.

Key Responsibilities
Specimen Processing & Laboratory Support

- Receive and process incoming patient samples

- Perform DNA extraction,



quality control checks and sample preparation activities

- Maintain accurate sample records and data entry

- Support molecular genetics testing workflows

- Coordinate send-away testing and manage returned laboratory reports

- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve sample identification discrepancies

Laboratory Operations
- Monitor and document temperature logs for laboratory equipment

- Support instrument maintenance, calibration and servicing activities

- Receive and quality check laboratory reagents and consumables

- Manage stock levels and laboratory supplies

- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organisation

Quality & Compliance
- Support quality assurance and quality control activities

- Contribute to the laboratory quality management system

- Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures, accreditation standards and regulatory requirements

- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives

About You

We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented individual who enjoys hands-on laboratory work and is keen to develop their technical skills within Molecular Genetics.

Essential Requirements

- Diploma or higher qualification in a relevant scientific discipline

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy

- Excellent organisational and time management skills

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Competency using Microsoft Office applications

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy laboratory environment

Highly Regarded

- Bachelor of Medical Science, Biotechnology,



Bioscience or related discipline

- Exposure to Molecular Biology, Human Genetics or Molecular Technologies

- Experience performing DNA extraction or related laboratory techniques

- Experience in pathology, diagnostic or genetics laboratories

- Experience working with Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) or Quality Management Systems (QMS)

- Knowledge of quality and accreditation environments
