About Us:

Hungry Bird Cafe is a popular and vibrant cafe in Nicholls, ACT, known for its delicious breakfast, brunch, and specialty dishes made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We are looking for a passionate and skilled Chef to join our team and help deliver exceptional culinary experiences to our customers.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000 per annum

Role: Full time

Location: Nicholls, ACT 2913

Key Responsibilities:

·Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of breakfast, lunch, and specialty dishes, ensuring high-quality presentation and taste.

·Oversee daily kitchen activities, including food preparation, cooking, and plating, to ensure smooth service flow.

·Maintain consistency in portion sizes, cooking methods, and presentation, upholding the cafe’s high standards.

·Assist in developing and refining menu items, incorporating seasonal and fresh ingredients.

·Monitor food stock levels, place orders, and minimize wastage while maintaining cost control.

·Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, ensuring efficiency and maintaining a positive team environment.

·Ensure that all cooking equipment is properly maintained and used safely.





·Ensure all food handling, preparation, and storage comply with food safety and hygiene regulations.

Skills & Qualifications:

·Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).

·Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Chef in a similar role.

·Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu planning, and ingredient selection.

·Knowledge of Australian Cuisine.

·Understanding of Australian food safety regulations and compliance requirements.

·Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

·Excellent time management and multitasking skills.

·Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
