Catholic Special School is seeking a skilled, compassionate and highly motivated Education Support Officer – Curriculum (Grade 3) to join our team at the Our Lady of La Vang Campus, Flinders Park.
This is an chance to work within a specialist educational setting where relationships, dignity, inclusion and highly personalised learning are central to our work.
About the role
Working under the direction of the Principal or delegate, the Education Support Officer works collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support students’ identified educational needs and engagement in learning.
The role includes:

- Assist student learning, assessment and evaluation under teacher supervision, using appropriate behavioural support strategies to maintain a safe, orderly and successful learning environment.
- Support teachers and allied health professionals in preparing, implementing and supervising classroom learning experiences and specialist activities.
- Use initiative and professional judgement to identify learning or behavioural needs and suggest appropriate modifications to educational programs, subject to teacher approval.
- Provide individual and small-group support for students with identified special needs in accordance with their Personalised Plans for Learning (PPLs) and other plans, including physical and personal care requirements as appropriate.
- Support and demonstrate practical learning activities, specialist instruction, use of equipment and educational resources under the direction of teachers or relevant specialists.
- Monitor student participation, learning, progress and behaviour, contributing to program evaluation and recording relevant information in SEQTA as directed.




- Support the supervision, safety and wellbeing of students across classroom activities, yard duty, excursions, sports days and other school activities.
- Participate actively in school events, staff and team meetings, required training, professional learning and professional review processes, and undertake other duties as directed by the Principal or delegate.

About you
We are looking for someone who brings genuine commitment to working alongside young people with disability and who understands that effective education support is about much more than assistance. It is about enabling participation, independence, communication, learning and belonging.
You will bring:

- experience supporting students with disability and/or additional learning needs
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- knowledge of inclusive and positive behaviour support approaches
- initiative, sound judgement and the capacity to respond effectively to changing situations
- strong organisation and time-management skills
- the ability to work collaboratively while also operating with a low level of direct supervision
- a commitment to confidentiality and professional practice
- a willingness to actively contribute to the Catholic ethos and life of the school
- a commitment to ongoing professional learning.

A Certificate IV in Education Support or equivalent and/or relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience is required, with previous experience in an educational environment highly desirable. Continence Care Training is also identified as desirable.
Please note this position is for the 40 weeks of the school year. Salary sacrafice package available.
