Endeavour Energy

Parramatta

There’s never been a better time to be in energy. And there’s never been a more exciting time to be at Endeavour Energy.

More than 2.7 million people across New South Wales rely on us every day for the supply of safe and reliable power to their homes and businesses. We employ more than 1,700 people across our catchment, making us one of the largest employers in Sydney’s Greater West.

To work with us in this role, you don’t need to have any energy experience. We need talented people who are ready for challenge and growth and value a sense of care and belonging. Why? Because our vision is to lead the way with smarter energy solutions. Play your part in helping us to put the customer first and transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for us all.

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to take a leading role in shaping how Endeavour Energy manages the integrity, reliability and maintenance of critical electricity network assets.

As Principal Engineer – Asset Integrity & Maintenance, you’ll operate as a technical authority and independent delivery lead, turning asset performance data, field experience, failure investigations, risk modelling and regulatory obligations into practical maintenance strategies, engineering standards and defensible investment decisions.

Working across transmission, distribution and zone substation asset portfolios, you’ll apply asset management principles, FMECA, Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM), RAMS and risk-based engineering to improve reliability, availability, maintainability and safety outcomes.

This role suits someone who enjoys getting to the root of complex asset problems, challenging established approaches with evidence and translating engineering analysis into practical decisions that can be implemented in the field.

What you’ll be doing

- Shape maintenance standards and practices by leading the review and continual improvement of maintenance standards, policies, processes and procedures across designated network asset portfolios.
- Develop risk-based maintenance strategies using FMECA, RCM and RAMS principles to determine economically justified maintenance tasks, intervals and intervention strategies.
- Lead complex asset failure investigations, identifying root causes,

contributing factors and recurrence risks and turning findings into practical corrective actions and organisational learnings.
- Develop and enhance asset risk models, including probability-of-failure (PoF) and consequence assessments covering reliability, safety, financial, bushfire, environmental and vegetation-related risks.
- Provide Principal Engineer-level technical authority, supporting field operations, maintenance, asset engineering and investment teams with evidence-based engineering advice and assurance.
- Support regulatory and investment decisions by developing technically defensible engineering justifications, cost-benefit assessments and risk-based recommendations across OPEX and CAPEX.
- Connect engineering with operational reality, ensuring maintenance strategies account for asset condition, network context, field constraints, safety and whole-of-life asset performance.
- Work across the organisation, partnering with Asset Engineering, Asset Investments, ePMO, Reliability & Resilience, Safety, bushfire, environment, vegetation management, Field Operations and System Operations.
- Lead complex work with a high degree of autonomy, escalating material strategic, commercial, safety and risk matters while maintaining ownership of technical outcomes.
- Build engineering capability, mentoring junior and mid-level engineers and supporting robust technical discipline, data quality and continuous improvement.

About you

You’re an experienced engineer who can combine deep technical expertise with practical, risk-based decision-making. You’ll ideally bring:

- 12+ years’ experience in electricity networks, asset management, maintenance or reliability engineering.
- Strong knowledge of distribution network and zone substation assets, failure modes and maintenance requirements.
- Experience applying FMECA, RCM, RAMS and quantitative asset risk modelling.
- A track record of leading complex failure investigations and making defensible engineering recommendations.
- Strong technical writing,

stakeholder influencing and engineering leadership skills.
- Familiarity with SAP PM or similar asset management systems.

CPEng, CAMA/CPAM or relevant RCM/FMECA/RAM credentials would be highly regarded.

Highly regarded

The following qualifications or credentials would be advantageous:

- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status
- ISO 55001 or asset management credentials such as CAMA or CPAM
- RCM, FMECA or RAM engineering training or certification

Relevant operational licences or tickets, including EWP, White Card or traffic control qualifications, may also be beneficial depending on operational requirements.

The challenge and opportunity

This position goes beyond maintaining existing standards. You’ll help evolve the way asset integrity and maintenance decisions are made across complex network portfolios.

A key challenge will be converting FMECA, RCM, field observations and failure information into quantified, defensible PoF and RAMS inputs, particularly where perfect data does not exist. You’ll need to combine engineering judgement, transparent assumptions, available asset information and industry knowledge to reach decisions that are technically robust and commercially practical.

You’ll balance reliability, safety, bushfire, environmental, customer and financial consequences while ensuring maintenance and refurbishment decisions remain aligned with Endeavour Energy’s risk-based asset management framework and relevant standards and regulatory obligations.

For an experienced engineer, that creates genuine scope to influence maintenance philosophy, engineering standards and asset-management decision-making across an essential electricity network.
