Key Responsibilities: * Prepare and set up equipment, chemicals and materials for practical science lessons. * Prepare chemical solutions and maintain laboratory resources in accordance with departmental procedures. * Maintain laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas in a clean, organised and safe condition. * Manage chemical storage, hazardous substances, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), waste disposal and laboratory safety requirements. * Maintain inventory records, chemical registers, dangerous goods registers and other required documentation. * Order equipment, chemicals and consumables, obtain quotations and receive deliveries. * Assist with annual stocktakes and maintain science assets. * Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.



* Support teachers with practical activities and demonstrations where required. * Assist with STEM activities and other science initiatives. * Ensure all laboratory procedures comply with Workplace Health and Safety legislation and Department of Education policies. * Undertake other duties as directed by the Principal or Business Manager. Essential Requirements: * Hold a diploma qualification relevant to the role (or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Department of Education). * Hold, or be eligible to obtain, a current Blue Card. * Demonstrate a strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures and chemical handling. * Have excellent organisational and time management skills. * Be able to work independently while contributing positively to a cooperative team. * Possess sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications. * Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school will be highly regarded.
