Our client, Sheridan Stone Aust Pty Ltd is an established stonemasonry business specialising in the fabrication, supply and installation of custom stone products for residential and commercial projects. The business provides tailored stonework solutions, with a strong focus on craftsmanship, precision, durability and quality finishes. Its services include the manufacture and installation of custom stone surfaces and architectural features for residential properties, commercial premises and larger building projects.

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Stonemason to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring, cutting, shaping, finishing, fabricating and installing stone products in accordance with project specifications and customer requirements. The role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality finished work while maintaining workplace safety and installation standards.

Requirements

-Relevant AQF Certificate III qualification in stonemasonry or an equivalent qualification, together with relevant industry experience.

-Alternatively, a minimum of three years of directly relevant experience in stonemasonry, stone fabrication or installation may substitute for formal qualifications.

-At leasr one year relevant experience

Key Responsibilities

-Interpret technical drawings, plans, templates and specifications to determine dimensions, cutting requirements, fabrication methods and installation procedures.

-Measure,



mark and set out stone materials accurately to meet project dimensions and design requirements.

-Select and inspect stone materials to ensure they meet the required quality, thickness, finish and project specifications.

-Cut, shape, grind, polish and finish stone materials using appropriate hand tools, machinery and specialised equipment.

-Fabricate custom stone components and features in accordance with design specifications and required tolerances.

-Prepare edges, joints, cut-outs and surface finishes to achieve accurate dimensions and a high-quality final appearance.

-Operate and maintain stone-cutting, grinding, polishing and fabrication equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and workplace procedures.

-Assemble, position and install fabricated stone components at residential and commercial sites, ensuring accurate alignment, secure fitting and appropriate support.

-Prepare installation surfaces and apply suitable adhesives, sealants and fixing materials as required for the project.

-Inspect completed fabrication and installation work to identify defects, dimensional discrepancies or finishing issues and undertake corrective work where necessary.

-Coordinate with management, builders, contractors and other trades to confirm site measurements,



installation requirements and project schedules.

-Handle, transport and position stone materials using appropriate lifting equipment and safe manual-handling techniques.

-Maintain clean and organised fabrication and installation areas, including appropriate management of stone dust, offcuts and waste materials.

-Follow workplace health and safety requirements, including the secure operation of machinery, use of personal protective equipment and procedures for handling heavy materials.

Skills and Experience

-Proven experience as a Stonemason in stone fabrication, processing, finishing and installation.

-Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, measurements, templates and project specifications.

-Strong knowledge of stone-cutting, shaping, grinding, polishing and finishing techniques.

-Experience operating stone fabrication machinery and specialised cutting and finishing equipment.

-Demonstrated ability to measure, set out and fabricate stone components accurately.

-Understanding of stone installation methods, joint preparation, adhesives, sealants and fixing techniques.

-Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision, workmanship and quality control.

-Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual tasks involving the safe handling of heavy materials.

-Commitment to workplace safety, reliability and timely completion of assigned work.
