About Delta Group – Renewables

Delta Group is Australia's largest contractor of our type, with more than 35 years of experience delivering complex civil, piling, demolition, logistics, decontamination, and remediation solutions that shape tomorrow's urban and industrial landscapes. Delta Group is seeking an experienced Bid Manager to lead tender development and submission activities across our growing Renewables & New Energy division.

Based in Melbourne, this is an opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end tender management for renewable energy and infrastructure projects, bringing together estimating, engineering, procurement, commercial and operational expertise to develop competitive, commercially robust and compelling bids.

Reporting to the Divisional Manager, you will lead the bid process from initial opportunity assessment and tender strategy through pricing, submission, negotiation and project handover. You will play a key role in shaping bid strategy, strengthening our subcontractor and supplier network, managing commercial risk and positioning Delta for continued growth in the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end tenders from expressions of interest and bid/no-bid assessments through to submission, negotiation, award and handover.

- Develop bid strategies, tender programmes, win themes and value-engineering opportunities aligned with client requirements.

- Review tender documentation and develop detailed scopes of work, pricing schedules and enquiry packages for civil construction subcontractors and suppliers.

- Coordinate estimating, engineering, procurement, commercial, legal, HSEQ and project delivery inputs to produce accurate, compliant and competitive submissions.

- Manage subcontractor and supplier enquiries, quote comparisons, commercial qualifications, scope gaps and pricing alignment.

- Lead tender risk and opportunity reviews, including contract terms, assumptions, exclusions, departures, contingencies and margin protection.

- Prepare high-quality tender submissions, methodologies, programmes, executive summaries and commercial documentation.

- Coordinate client presentations, tender clarifications, negotiations and best-and-final offers.

- Build and maintain relationships with clients, developers, Tier 1 EPC contractors, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.

- Develop a strong civil construction supply chain across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.

- Ensure effective tender governance, document control, approvals and seamless handover to project delivery teams.

- Drive continuous improvement through tender reviews, market intelligence, pricing benchmarks and lessons learned.

About You

You are a commercially astute and organised tender professional who can bring people together, challenge assumptions and manage complex bids under tight deadlines. You combine strong technical and commercial understanding with the ability to develop compelling submissions and build effective industry relationships.

You will ideally bring:

- Proven experience managing end-to-end tenders within civil construction, infrastructure, renewable energy or a related engineering environment.

- Robust understanding of tender documentation, subcontractor procurement, estimating, scope development and commercial risk.

- Experience reviewing head contract conditions, commercial qualifications, exclusions and contractual departures.

- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities and deadlines.

- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, persuasive and compliant tender submissions.

- Strong commercial judgement, analytical skills and attention to detail.

- Confidence engaging with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and senior stakeholders.

- A proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to improve bid outcomes.

Experience working on renewable energy infrastructure projects, including associated civil works and subcontractor packages, will be highly regarded.
