AECI is seeking an experienced HSEQT Supervisor to join our McLarty PowerBoost operation in Western Australia.

This is a hands-on site leadership role responsible for driving Health, Safety, Environment, Quality and Training across the operation. Working closely with the Plant Manager, Operations, Engineering, Technical Services and the broader Australian HSET team, you will help ensure the facility operates safely, reliably and in accordance with legislative, licence and AECI requirements.

A newly established role and plant operation you will play a key part of supporting site establishment and operational readiness, giving you the opportunity to help shape the systems, controls, procedures and capability that underpin the operation.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will:

- Lead HSE, Quality and Training systems for the McLarty PowerBoost operation.

- Drive operational and process risk management, including HAZOP, Bow Tie, FMEA and Critical Control Management.

- Maintain and continuously improve the site's HSEQT compliance framework and Explosives Management Plan.

- Support process safety, critical equipment controls and the safe operating envelope.

- Coordinate Management of Change, commissioning readiness and pre-start-up Safety review activities.

- Develop and maintain site procedures, risk assessments and controlled HSEQT documentation.

- Maintain training, competency and authorisation systems.

- Support quality assurance across explosives manufacturing, including traceability, testing, product release and non-conformance management.

- Lead and support safety, process, quality and environmental investigations.

- Conduct audits, inspections and assurance activities,

ensuring corrective actions are effectively closed out.

- Support emergency preparedness, contractor management and regulatory engagement.

- Maintain a strong presence across the operation, providing practical coaching and challenging practices where safety, quality or compliance standards are not being met.

- Drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, competency and operational discipline.

About you

You will ideally bring experience in a high-hazard industrial, explosives, chemical, mining, manufacturing or process environment, with a practical understanding of how solid HSEQT systems translate into safe day-to-day operations.

You will have:

- A tertiary qualification in WHS/OHS, quality, training or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated industry experience.

- Experience implementing and maintaining HSE management systems.

- Strong capability in operational risk and critical control management.

- Experience developing risk assessments, procedures and protected work systems.

- Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action management.

- An understanding of permit-to-work, isolations, Management of Change and contractor management systems.

- Experience with training systems,

competency frameworks and workforce authorisations.

- Strong auditing, reporting and stakeholder engagement capability.

- The ability to interpret legislation, technical standards, procedures, Safety Data Sheets and technical documentation.

- A current Australian driver's licence.

- The ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearances and site authorisations for unsupervised access to explosives.

Experience in explosives, process safety, PowerBoost operations, commissioning, operational readiness or quality assurance will also be highly regarded.

What will set you apart

You are a visible and credible HSEQT professional who is comfortable working alongside operational teams, not simply managing systems from behind a desk.

You bring sound judgement, a questioning mindset and the confidence to identify and escalate risk when standards or critical controls are compromised. Just as importantly, you can build robust working relationships across Operations, Engineering, Technical Services, Quality and Training, and influence people at all levels of the organisation.

Why join AECI?

This is an opportunity to take an influential role within the McLarty PowerBoost operation and contribute directly to the development of a safe, compliant and high-performing manufacturing environment.

You will work across safety, process risk, quality and workforce capability while developing deeper technical knowledge of PowerBoost and explosives manufacturing. The position may also involve travel within Australia and internationally for training, competency development, assurance and technical support.
