The Opportunity

TMK Consulting Engineers is continuing to grow its presence in Victoria, and we’re looking for an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to play a key role in growing our Building Services electrical capability across the Victorian market.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, commercially minded engineer who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for client engagement, business development and people leadership. Working closely with the Victorian Building Services Manager and TMK’s established multidisciplinary teams, you’ll help shape the future of our electrical engineering services in Victoria.

You’ll play a key role in identifying recent opportunities, securing work, overseeing technical delivery, and mentoring team members, while strengthening TMK’s market presence and building lasting partnerships with clients across a diverse range of sectors.

We’re looking for someone who wants to make a genuine impact, someone who can bring their industry relationships, commercial acumen and technical leadership to help establish TMK as a trusted building services engineering partner in Victoria.

Your responsibilities will include:

Discipline Leadership and Growth

- Lead the development and growth of TMK’s electrical engineering discipline in Victoria, establishing a strong market presence and reputation for quality, reliability and technical excellence.

- Assist in developing and implementing strategies to grow the electrical services portfolio, identify new markets and convert business opportunities into sustainable project work.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, architects, developers, builders and other industry stakeholders.

- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, contribute to networking and industry engagement, and represent TMK in the Victorian market.

- Prepare and contribute to fee proposals, tenders, project budgets and commercial negotiations, ensuring opportunities align with TMK’s strategic and commercial objectives.

- Work closely with TMK’s leadership team to develop the electrical discipline’s business plan, growth priorities and resourcing requirements.

Technical Leadership and Project Delivery

- Provide technical leadership across a diverse range of building services projects,



ensuring electrical engineering solutions meet client expectations, project requirements and relevant Australian Standards.

- Oversee and contribute to electrical design, analysis and documentation, including lighting, power distribution, switchboards, earthing, communications and fire detection systems.

- Guide project delivery, design coordination, technical reviews and quality assurance to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately and within agreed timeframes and budgets.

- Provide technical advice to clients, project teams and contractors, including attendance at site inspections and resolution of construction-stage queries.

- Coordinate electrical engineering services with mechanical, hydraulic, structural and other disciplines to deliver integrated project outcomes.

- Maintain strong commercial oversight of project performance, including scope, fees, resources, risks and client expectations.

Team and Capability Development

- Build the electrical discipline’s capability and capacity as TMK’s Victorian operations grow, including identifying future recruitment and resourcing needs.

- Mentor and develop engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative culture of technical excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.

- Share knowledge and establish effective design practices, technical standards and quality processes across the broader Building Services team.

- Collaborate with colleagues across TMK’s offices to leverage multidisciplinary expertise, strengthen client relationships and identify opportunities for cross-disciplinary work.

About You

You’re an experienced electrical engineer who combines technical credibility with commercial thinking, strong relationship-building skills and the drive to grow a business. You enjoy taking initiative, connecting with clients and turning opportunities into successful projects.

You’ll bring:

- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

- Experience in building services electrical engineering, ideally within an engineering consultancy environment.

- Demonstrated experience in developing client relationships, identifying business opportunities and contributing to business growth.

- The confidence and capability to represent a business in the Victorian market, build industry networks and establish trusted relationships with clients and project partners.

- Strong commercial acumen, including experience with fee proposals, tenders, project budgets, resource planning and project financial performance.

- Technical expertise across electrical design, documentation and delivery for a range of building types and sectors.

- Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, the National Construction Code (NCC) and applicable electrical engineering requirements.

- Proficiency in relevant design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit and PowerCAD.

- Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers and designers, and supporting the development of a capable and collaborative team.

- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance technical quality, commercial outcomes and client expectations.

- A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset and the motivation to take ownership of a discipline’s growth and success.

- A current Class C driver’s licence.

- Current residence in Melbourne or a willingness to relocate.
