As a Senior Claims Manager, you'll manage a diverse portfolio of complex life, disability and income protection claims, providing thoughtful and proactive support to members throughout their claims journey.

You'll use your expertise to investigate, analyse and assess claims while working closely with members, employers, healthcare providers and other stakeholders. Your ability to build trusted relationships, communicate clearly and navigate complex situations will help deliver positive outcomes for both members and Australian Retirement Trust.

In addition to managing a varied caseload, you'll provide technical guidance, coaching and support to colleagues, helping strengthen capability across the team. You'll also contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and member service delivery.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

- Manage a diverse portfolio of complex life, disability and income protection claims.
- Develop and implement proactive claims management strategies that support positive member outcomes.
- Engage with members to understand the medical, personal and social impacts of illness or injury.
- Collaborate with employers, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to gather information and progress claims.




- Prepare well-reasoned claim recommendations and decisions within delegated authority.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements.
- Coach and mentor team members to support capability development and knowledge sharing.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, member experiences and operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to a collaborative, supportive and high-performing team environment.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick the following boxes too:

- You have demonstrated experience in holistic claims management
- Your background shows your depth of life, TPD and IP claims management (end-to-end) experience, having worked at a life insurer
- You'll have experience working with rehabilitation, early intervention, community services or related health and medical services
- You're confident managing complex claims while balancing member needs, risk considerations and service expectations.
- You have robust stakeholder engagement skills and can communicate effectively with a broad range of internal and external parties.
- Your ability to coach, mentor and support colleagues helps build capability across teams.
- You'll be comfortable prioritising competing workloads while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.




- You're able to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to positive change.
- You hold a tertiary qualification in a related discipline, or equivalent experience, which will be highly regarded.
