About the role

As a Health & Security Assistant (Wardsperson) you will be responsible for providing support across the hospital, working seven (7) days a week 24-hour rotating roster. The Health & Security Assistant (Wardsperson) will provide non-clinical care to a variety of areas, including but not limited to:

- To assist nursing staff in patient care
- To transport patients for admissions and discharge
- To attend all emergency codes and mortuary duties
- To assist security staff in code black situations
- To be on call for cleaning of discharge beds as required on night duty
- To attend to ICU on night work, weekends and public holidays or when there are no ICU Technicians available

Rotating roster (8 Hour shifts) over a 24/7 period. The shift times are:

Day shift: 0600 - 1400
Afternoon shift: 1400 - 2200
Night shift: 2200 - 0600

About you

- Current Security Industry Licence and Senior First Aid Certificate and Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Commitment to providing a professional customer service to patients, staff and members of the public in a timely manner
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Manual Handling and Infection Control principles
- Commitment to further training with a willingness and flexibility to relieve in higher grade positions as required
- Ability to work effectively as a member of various multidisciplinary teams and ability to work independently as required
- Demonstrated communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work unsupervised and proficiently in periods of high demand and activity
