The purpose of the Financial Analyst role is to provide modelling, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis support to the organisation through the preparation of key financial deliverables

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
- Establish, document and maintain systems and processes to capture and report financial data as identified in relevant planning instruments and infrastructure agreements to assist with the financial impact of infrastructure in the City.
- Assist in the research, preparation, documentation and reporting of short and long term financial modelling.
- Prepare, analyse, and interpret financial performance and management reports and distribute to Council, executive management, and other stakeholders.
- Assist in the budget process by providing analysis, reports and assistance to internal clients through the operation of spreadsheets and database software, and the preparation of specific reports.
- Ensure transparency and efficiency through compliance with legislation, accounting standards, internal controls and other governance documents.
- Undertake investigation and analysis of variances to budget to ensure data integrity and identify appropriate solutions.
- Provide accurate and timely information and advice to customers, the Branch Manager, the Executive Leadership Team, and Council.
- Provide advice and general guidance to the Management Accountant.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION
- Display engaging interpersonal skills to communicate complex concepts in plain language, and build collaborative and respectful relationships with stakeholders.
- Develop, implement and maintain systems and procedures both within a strategic and operational context and identify business improvement opportunities
- Review, prepare and provide training to internal clients in the use of reports and financial systems.





Qualifications:
- A Tertiary qualification in Business or Accountancy field and experience in delivering financial analyst advice and services in a medium to large organisation.
- Membership or eligibility for membership of a Professional Accounting Body is desirable (CPA/CA).

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills, within a financial environment .
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to communicate and translate technical information to stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated application of specialist expertise and advice to stakeholders to support key business initiatives.
- Experience presenting technical costing and accounting concepts based on sound research and practical theory that assist the business in making appropriate financial decisions including assisting in the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
- Demonstrated experience in the research, preparation, documentation and reporting of short and long term financial modelling.
- Establish, document and maintain systems and processes to capture and report financial data as identified in relevant planning instruments and infrastructure agreements to ensure financial compliance.
- Translate information into simple concepts to facilitate understanding and manage expectations; building and maintaining team-oriented partnerships with internal and external stakeholders; and work harmoniously in a team work environment.
- Possession of a current "C" class driver's licence.
