Systems Accountant Needed, 12 Month Fixed Term Contract, Flexible locations, $122K Plus Super

An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified finance qualified to join a major transformation program driving the replacement of core Finance and Billing systems within a respected Victorian organisation.
This role is ideal for an experienced System Accountant who can bridge the gap between Finance, Technology and Project teams. Acting as the Finance Lead for a significant finance systems implementation, you will play a critical role in ensuring business requirements are translated into practical system outcomes while maintaining strong financial controls, reporting integrity and operational readiness throughout the project lifecycle.

Your new role

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will provide finance leadership and subject matter expertise across a large-scale Finance and Billing system replacement project.
Key responsibilities include:

- Acting as the Finance Lead and key finance representative throughout the project

- Translating finance and billing requirements into system design, configuration and business processes

- Providing finance assurance across solution design, testing, data migration, cutover and go-live activities

- Leading Finance participation in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validating test outcomes

- Coordinating data migration activities, reconciliations, parallel processing and financial control processes

- Supporting operational readiness, business adoption and knowledge transfer activities

- Developing finance procedures, work instructions, training materials and user documentation

- Partnering with project teams, vendors and stakeholders to resolve issues and influence outcomes

- Providing recommendations to senior leadership regarding system readiness and successful deployment

- Supporting continuous improvement of finance processes, controls and reporting frameworks





What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

- CA or CPA qualification

- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline

- Experience as a System Accountant, Finance Systems Accountant or Finance Transformation professional

- Strong understanding of financial accounting, management accounting and financial controls

- Expertise across general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, fixed assets, banking, reconciliations and financial reporting

- Demonstrated experience supporting ERP implementations, finance system upgrades or digital transformation programs

- Ability to translate business requirements into system functionality, controls and reporting outcomes

- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work across finance, project and technology teams

- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities and experience with enterprise financial systems

Highly regarded experience includes:

- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

- Finance and billing system replacement projects

- Power BI or Microsoft Fabric reporting environments

- Utilities, water, government or other regulated industries

- Data migration, testing, operational readiness and change adoption activities
