Salary well above market for the right person

Interesting tax work. Direct client relationships. Support to develop your career.

You have invested in developing your taxation law experience. Your next role should give you the opportunity to use it, extend it and work with people who value your contribution.

At Samaras Lawyers, you will work on varied federal and state taxation matters, build relationships with clients and their advisers, and collaborate closely with the Director on both advisory work and disputes.

We are seeking an experienced tax lawyer who enjoys working through complex issues and turning that analysis into clear, practical advice.

About us

Samaras Lawyers is an established, well-regarded multidisciplinary firm practising in taxation, commercial, property, estates and family law.

Our strong tax and business-focused client and referral base provides exposure to technically engaging work for small and medium-sized businesses, property developers, high-net-worth individuals and professionals.

Based in a centrally located Hurstville office, we are a cohesive team who work collaboratively, share knowledge and take pride in providing practical, client-focused advice.

Why join Samaras Lawyers?

Build your career in a well-regarded practice
We have an established reputation in taxation law and strong relationships with clients, accountants and other professional advisers. You will have the opportunity to deepen your technical knowledge, develop lasting professional relationships and contribute meaningfully to our tax practice.

Interesting work, with direct access to the Director
Our taxation work is varied, challenging and rewarding, spanning advice, objections, private rulings and disputes. You will work closely with the Director, with opportunities to discuss complex technical questions,

contribute to strategy and see matters through from initial advice to resolution.

Responsibility, backed by support
You will work directly with clients and take responsibility for progressing matters, with experienced colleagues to consult on difficult questions. Our multidisciplinary practice also provides opportunities to consider the broader commercial and legal context of the advice you give.

The resources to work at your best
Positive work requires the right support. We provide the technology, research subscriptions and resources needed to do your work well. We encourage continuous learning and the sharing of knowledge across the firm.

Opportunities to build your professional profile
Your development will extend beyond the matters on your desk. Through articles, presentations, firm-hosted seminars and relationships with accountants and other referrers, you will have opportunities to share your knowledge and become known for the work you do.

A team that values your contribution
We work well together and treat each other with respect. We value thoughtful contributions, practical advice and colleagues who are willing to share what they know. You will join a workplace where your experience is appreciated and your continued development matters.

What you will do

Your role will include:

- Preparing and providing advice on a broad range of federal and state taxation issues for businesses, property developers, high-net-worth individuals and professionals.

- Preparing objections and applications for private rulings with the Australian Taxation Office and Revenue NSW.

- Managing tax dispute matters in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Administrative Review Tribunal, Supreme Court of NSW and Federal Court of Australia.

- Working directly with clients, accountants, other lawyers and colleagues to develop advice, progress matters and maintain strong professional relationships.

- Collaborating closely with the Director on technical issues, matter strategy and practical solutions.

- Contributing articles and presentations, including at networking events and firm-hosted seminars for referrers.

About you

You will have at least five years’ post-admission experience, with a strong background in taxation law and well-developed research, analytical and drafting skills.

You will be comfortable taking responsibility for matters, communicating clearly with clients and working collaboratively with their other advisers. You will bring sound judgment, attention to detail and an interest in understanding the commercial circumstances behind a client’s tax issue.

Just as importantly, you will value a workplace where people share their knowledge, support their colleagues and take pride in doing their work well.

We are interested in hearing about the tax work you have undertaken, the areas you particularly enjoy and where you would like to develop your practice.

Let’s talk about your next role

We would welcome a confidential conversation about your taxation experience, your career goals and what you are looking for in your next workplace.

Please apply through SEEK or email us at ••••@samaraslawyers.com.au with your CV and a brief introduction outlining your experience and what interests you about the role.

Our preferred commencement is before Christmas 2026. Please include your notice period and availability.

All enquiries and applications will be treated in strict confidence.
