FMS Group is seeking experienced and safety-focused Boilermakers to join our team for an upcoming Shovel Shutdown at Mt Thorley, NSW.
We are looking for trade-qualified Boilermakers with proven shovel shutdown experience who take pride in delivering high-quality fabrication, welding, and maintenance work safely and efficiently, getting the job done right the first time.
This is a temporary shutdown opportunity, with work available for the duration of the shutdown during November/December ****. Successful candidates will join a high-performing maintenance team, contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of shovel maintenance and repair works in a fast-paced mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out shutdown maintenance, fabrication, welding, and repair works on shovels at Mt Thorley, NSW
Perform structural repairs, modifications, and component replacements as required
Complete welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication tasks to the required specifications and quality standards
Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and technical specifications
Inspect shovel components, identify defects, and carry out repairs as required
Work collaboratively with Fitters, supervisors, and other trades to achieve shutdown targets and deadlines
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements
Maintain a strong safety focus and high standards of workmanship throughout the shutdown
What You'll Bring
Trade qualification as a Boilermaker or equivalent recognised trade qualification
Demonstrated experience working on shovel shutdowns within the mining industry
Proven experience in welding, fabrication, structural repairs, and maintenance of mining shovels
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship,



and teamwork
Current Order 43 or 45 medical, as applicable to site requirements
Ability to pass ongoing drug and alcohol testing
Current Working at Heights, Confined Space, and Gas Test Atmosphere tickets
