Vakhraa Modern India is a modern Indian restaurant located in the heart of Stirling, Perth. We are seeking a passionate, experienced and dedicated Full-Time Cook / Chef to join our growing kitchen team. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Indian cuisine, excellent cooking skills and the ability to work efficiently in a busy restaurant environment.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic and up-to-date Indian dishes, including vegetarian, non-vegetarian, tandoori and curry dishes.
Prepare menu items using various cooking methods, including grilling, frying, steaming, roasting and sautéing.
Ensure food quality, taste, consistency and presentation meet restaurant standards.
Monitor cooking processes and adjust seasoning, flavours and cooking times as required.
Portion, plate and present dishes according to restaurant specifications.
Prepare marinades, sauces, gravies and other ingredients for daily kitchen operations.
Assist with menu planning, recipe development and introducing new dishes.
Maintain appropriate food storage, refrigeration, freezing and preservation procedures.
Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering ingredients and coordinate with suppliers.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
About you




Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent relevant qualification.
Minimum 2 years of professional cooking experience, preferably in an Indian restaurant.
Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, spices, marinades, curries and tandoori cooking.
Experience working in a commercial kitchen.
Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling procedures.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen.
Positive attitude, professionalism and strong communication skills.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
