Little Steps Paediatric Therapy
Queensland
Occupational Therapist - Full time or Part time. All applicants welcome including New Grads.
At Little Steps Paediatric Therapy, we believe that loving where you work is just as important as loving what you do! Great therapy starts with a great team, and we have created a supportive, collaborative workplace where clinicians feel valued and inspired to do their best work every day.
Little Steps is a locally owned multidisciplinary practice specialising in paediatrics. We provide high-quality, family-centred therapy for children from birth to 15 years of age in the beautiful Whitsundays, Queensland. Our mission is to help children of all abilities build the skills and confidence they need to thrive. We want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families we support—one little step at a time.
We're looking for a passionate Occupational Therapist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a values-driven workplace where you'll be supported to grow, develop your clinical skills, and make a lasting impact.
About the role
As an Occupational Therapist at Little Steps, you'll join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that enjoys working together, sharing knowledge, and supporting one another to deliver the best possible outcomes. We work closely with each child's support team and have built strong relationships with external professionals and community services. This provides regular opportunities for collaboration, joint appointments and coordinated, family-centred care.
In this role, you'll provide assessment and intervention for children with diverse developmental presentations including:
Developmental delays
Neurodevelopmental conditions
Genetic conditions
Neurodivergence
A broad range of developmental, learning or functional needs.
You'll work with children and families accessing services through NDIS, private funding, Medicare, and a range of third-party funding pathways (including referrals from Queensland Children's Hospital (QCH), Child Safety and other government and community agencies). This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of settings, including within the Little Steps clinic, home visits, early learning centres, schools, and the wider community,
allowing you to build meaningful relationships and deliver therapy where it has the greatest impact.
Your caseload will provide opportunities to develop your skills in:
Equipment prescription, assistive technology (AT), and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
Sensory processing, emotional regulation, play, social participation, and executive functioning
Fine motor, gross motor, visual motor, and school readiness skills
Supporting participation in everyday activities, routines, and activities of daily living (ADLs)
Parent and family coaching and capacity building
Running therapy groups, community programs and workshops
Functional assessments, report writing, and NDIS documentation
Developing meaningful, functional goals that support participation at home, school and in the community
Why You'll Love Working at Little Steps
At Little Steps, we believe that supporting our team is just as key as supporting the children and families we work with. That's why we've created a workplace where clinicians feel supported, valued and inspired to grow, while delivering high-quality, evidence-based and family-centred care. We value thoughtful clinical reasoning, communication skills, and working collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for every child. We want Little Steps to be a place where you can build a rewarding career, enjoy coming to work each day, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.
What you can expect at Little Steps:
